I'd really like a protective rubber/plastic cargo tray for the back of my prius. After coming back from a hike with muddy boots it would be great to keep the dirt off the carpet. Subaru has them (see pic below) - does anyone know where to find anything like this for the 2004 Prius? Thanks! - Jeff [Broken External Image]:http://www.subaruparts.com/catalog/subaru/E5010LS200.jpg
WeatherTech makes cargo mats: http://www.weathertech.com/store/prodsearc...item_group_id=1 but they do not make one of these nice pre-formed ones for the Prius. They also make this one that you cut yourself: http://www.muddybuddies.com/store/item.asp...DEPARTMENT_ID=9 but I'd really like to find one that was nicely molded to fit and that would contain liquid at the edges. Even better would be one that protected the back of the rear seats as well.
This feature came in handy in my wife's Subaru a few months ago when my 8 year old left the rear hatch open over night. It didn't rain a LOT, but I poured about a quart of water out of the mat. Would have been a big mess on the carpet and in the spare tire well otherwise. Didn't do much for the mittens she dropped on the ground though
i had the one in my subaru, too... the trade-in for the prius. it protected a gallon of semi-gloss white from painting the back hatch. it was awesome how it had a 1inch lip all the way around so it could trap liquids. i'm afraid to put much in the back of the prius right now. -r
This thing is brilliant, it goes up the sides. They even have one for the CR-V that fills the entire space when the seats are folded down, but still lets you fold the seats back up. The manufacturer is Carbox from Germany. Let's hope they get working on some castings for our Prius! After reading the praises of the subaru's trunk protector I tried putting the one from my wife's Forester into the Prius (thank you for the great suggestion!). Fits pretty well considering the different designs of the cars. Minor trim will be needed but I think I'll be ordering one for my Prius.
