I was driving my 2006 Mariner Hybrid when all of a sudden a message came on the dash "safely pull over". I did and the car turned off and would not start. I waited about 5-10 min and it restarted. It happend a week later but this time it didn't start until the next day. Does anybody have any ideas? The local Ford dealership Service Manager had no idea. Never heard of it before. ANY ideas would be appreciated. Thank you.
Wish I could help you there, but doesn't that kind of fit the saying: Found On Road Dead Had to say it, sorry.
Out of curiosity I ran a search and found an incident of the message over on hybridcars.org with an '08 Escape. Don't know if it's the same, but check it out. Please Pull Over Safely! | Hybrid Cars
c'mon guys, we're talking to a fellow hybrid owner here. let's back off on the snark, even though the brand is different. you need to find a local ford/mercury mechanic who can do diagnostic work. there's probably some trouble codes being spit out by your various ecu's that will help to identify the issue, and you need someone who can follow this trail of clues to the scene of the crime so to speak. good luck!
Agreed. Galaxee has the best (and only) suggestion. Look at the codes. If the dealer can't help you, find one that will. Tom
I just tried to help diagnose yet another Escape that was doing the same thing, according to its owner, and there was apparently some indication of high temp involved. I drove it a little and it didn't happen for me; the car showed no codes but I couldn't get the Ford enhanced stuff working so there may have been some ECU-specific history codes I couldn't see. Everything seemed normal, the A/C worked fine [which is used as part of the battery cooling regime, so it needs to be functional], and all the fluids were at proper levels. A bit of a headscratcher. Perhaps it's just endemic to the FEH/MMH or there might be a TSB out or whatever. . _H*
