[font=Arial:c283ff1851] [/font:c283ff1851] </span><span style=\'color:blue\'> I SUCCESSFULLY LINKED MY LG PM 325 MOBILE PHONE WITH THE PRIUS. BUT I AM UNABLE TO TRANSFER THE PHONE. CAN ANYONE ADVISE ME OF THE STEPS INVOLVED? THANKS. GANESH VENKAT
Transfer the phone? Do you mean move the phone numbers you have placed into the phone into the Prius? And who is your cellular company? How did you get this phone? Verizon turns off all Bluetooth features for the most part, file transfers and object transfers, so if you are under contract with them, then you cannot get the file transfers accomplished. There may be some programming you need to get done with the phone to affect a file transfer, you need to look up the phone instruction manual and follow the directions. Good luck and keep us posted.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(ganeshvenkat\";p=\"64005)</div> The LG PM-325 does not support the OBEX protocols. Thus, it does not have the ability to transfer the contact list from the phone to the car. My complaints to LG fell on deaf ears. They claim that Sprint is responsible for the firmware specifications.
IsrAmeriPrius was right. PM-325 of LG is a CDMA phone with basic Bluetooth capability. You may find the official data here. http://qualweb.bluetooth.org/Template2.cfm...&ProductID=1909 Before you buy any phone, it is a good idea to check out the bluetooth.org or bluetooth.com (or both) to see if the phones you are interested in has the full bluetooth capability. On top of that Verizon turned of the OBEX and OPP. That is an action on the firmware side.
Verizon is only trying to make a buck, same as all the others, really. The difference, from my perspective at least, is that Verizon offers better coverage. I've lived in the same house for over 14 years and have tried a host of other carriers. Verizon is the only one I've had that provides a decent signal in my backyard and any kind of a signal inside my house. I mean, what good is "advanced technology" if you can't make or receive calls?
Hello, We have a Motorola V710 cell phone w/Verizon as our service provider. The phone works alright, EXCEPT we cannot transfer the phonebook to the Prius. Connects/goes to the Data Transfer screen/prompts to send phonebook from phone...but,the screen never indicates that any transfer takes place. After checking Motorola's website, they say to contact the receiving Bluetooth product manufacturer - went to Toyota website - they pass the buck to the cell phone manufacturer - now I gather from a previous post here, that Verizon may be the culprit for the transfer failure. Goodness, who in the chain is responsible for fixing this data transfer breakdown? Thanks for any help you may have to offer. - ctyler
For some further reading on the V710 issue, click HERE Someone will correct me if I'm in error regarding the following: 1) There are different firmware versions for the V710, one of the hacked versions will enable a Bluetooth profile called OPP. 2) OPP will work with a Bluetooth-equipped (enabled or whatever) BMW but not with a Prius. In other words, somehow BMW's implementation is able to suck data out of a V710 that has been "hacked". 3) A Bluetooth profile called OBEX is needed to transfer the phonebook (or other data) from a V710 to a Prius. There is no hack to enable OBEX at this point in time nor does it appear that a solution is forthcoming from Verizon. Suggestions: 1) Blame Verizon for somehow crippling OBEX on the phone. 2) Blame Toyota for not providing "OPP-compatibility".
Tag, My understanding on OPP and OBEX are different from yours. Prius manual clearly states that Prius, as a Bluetooth client (not a server), supports HFP (hand-free profile) and OPP (object push profile). It does not support OBEX, which is for transfering files of many sorts (skins, wallpaper, ring-tones, etc.) My V551 (Cingular) supports OPP and OBEX. Yes, I agree with you that the number 1 function of being a cell phone is to have good reception. It is also my understanding that Verizon has the best reception of most places I have been to and checked. In the case of Verizon, they instructed the manufacturers (or by themselves - I doubt?) to deactiavte OPP and OBEX at fireware level. And, they are being class-actioned for doing that. Cheers.
ceric, Perhaps someone can clarify this matter because we understand differently. I sort of gleaned my earlier summation from reading posts on HoFo HERE From what I read I concluded that the hacked flash for the V710 enables OPP and, thus, phonebook transfers can be accomplished with certain BMW models. The Prius, unlike the BMW, sits there and waits for the phone to transfer the data to it but there's no method of doing that on the V710. Thus, OBEX is necessary in order to transfer phonebook data to the Prius.
Verizon Wireless Sued Over V710 Bluetooth Limitations Check out www.phonescoop.com for more details. Hopefully this will be settled out of court and Verizon will offer a free firmware upgrade to all v710 owners.
tag, I just researched the google and found that OBEX to be more generic than OPP. In fact, OBEX is not directly under Bluetooth. In other words, OBEX can contain OPP or FTP. OBEX seems like a procedural control of hand-shaking. OPP and FTP (file transfer profile) are profiles supported by bluetooth. I won't spend more time into this because an engineer in this area can better clarify this confusion we have. Hope this help.
Just wanted to say that being brand new Pruis owners (4 days), and just saw this chat for the first time today, we have learned SO MUCH from all of you. THANK YOU!! Right now I am happy our Motorola V710 functions at all with the Bluetooth, and hope that Verizon/Motorola/Toyota get together and make this wonderful feature equally functional for all.
Agreed. Here's an image I found on another board, FWIW: Link: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/faq/blu...oothprofile.jsp
Voice Activated Phone This might be a question that everyone can answer, but.... Has anyone been able to access the voice activation on their phone from within the car? In other words, if I have stored "Call Home" on my Motorola V551, can I press the telephone button, say "Call Home" and have the voice activation dial the number..... I hope this is clear. Thanks for the help.
I dont believe it is possible since the bluetooth to the phone only kicks in when making a call. The voice activation for the phone is not part of that process.
Thanks for the post. I guess I am used to my Jabarra Bluetooth headset that allows for voice activation by pressing a button on the headset.
