Is it selfish to not want more kids?

I'm new here, just adding my opinion to the pool

I'm 30 and my husband is a bit younger tha me...but we have both decided not to have children at all. Me being an only child and him middle out of all boys. We are both in the Air Force, and since we travel and move alot, having kids would just make things alot more difficult for everyone, including the kids. some would argue it's my duty to have kids, others would throw the bible at me and preach that having kids is the godly thing to do...nope. This world is way overcrowded, and I refuse contriubute to the problem. For those who have kids, that's awesome, I don't see how you handle it but good job. for those that don't, think wisely before you do.
A great alternative to kids is cats. LOL Animals can be rewarding and fulfulling too! we have 2 rescue kitties, and they mean alot to us.

 

I thought you said you were Air National Guard. I've been arrested by Air Force guards. One time they had a dog. The guy said in his best Sylvester Stallone voice: "Don't make any sudden moves! This is a military working dog." Otherwise they were always very polite and courteous.

 

I am Air National Guard. My husband is the full timer, me the part timer. when I'm activated, I'm concidered full time until my orders expire. Military lingo that you should be familar with, living around fairchild.

and I don't know if your comment was meant to be funny but I didn't think it was. in fact I took offense. I've noticed alot of people in this state are anti-war/anti-military...free will free choice but I hear enough jokes. it's sad that when i have to be in public around here in seattle and even in spokane, and I get spit on for being in the military. helping to defend a country that it's members spit upon you for your service: god smart bless america

I didn't see anything remotely offensive in Daniel's comment. He even took pains to point out that the MPs were polite and courteous. Daniel has a reputation for veracity & I have read of his protest activities before, so I don't believe he was trying to be "funny" (his reputation for veracity is not matched by his reputation for humour -- no offense Daniel).

Its easy to be antiwar without being antimilitary, lots of people are. If people are spitting on you for being in the military that's pretty shocking indeed, but I'd bet its pretty rare and not an attitude held by any significant number.

Your reaction was a little extreme, maybe you've got some healing to do if you are really feeling that way about your country.
I hope you can find some help with that.

 

I come from the east coast, Virginia more exactly, and there people would be polite and even shake your hand....here it's opposite, and my husband and I come across down right hostile people here in hippie loving seattle. I'm all for peace and love and chocolate, but dang Washington is just a shock to me, a bit.
