My check engine light came on and I put my meter to it. It read P1121. After further investigation on the internet, I see that Prius TSB EGO 18-02 - Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Range/Performance Problem. The meter just read P1121 Mnfg. Controlled fuel and air metering. All I need to know is what exactly does this mean and can I use the car without damaging it? It runs great and mileage is good! I do intend to eventually take to dealer if I must in the future. Thanks! (by the way, mileage is 82,000)
that's a coolant flow control valve- it sends hot coolant to the storage tank that warms up your engine faster. or, you've got an airlock in your cooling system and it'll overheat when the weather starts to warm up this summer.
As Galaxee indicated, this means that there is a problem with the water valve that controls the flow of engine coolant to the coolant heat recovery canister, or there might be a problem with a clogged cooling system. You haven't noticed any driveability issues so you probably can continue to drive the car without damage. Failure of the valve means that the car's pollution control is not working as intended.
