I don't see a specific thread focusing on the model that will be a Lexus Branded prius, so I'd like to start this one. The news seems sparse thus far, but it would be nice to get it all in one place. I loved my first prius (07 touring, totaled) so much, I'm looking forward to getting either the 2010 model, or the lexus model assuming it doesnt' cost too darn much or lose too much MPG.
IF i end up getting an '08 (i have a deposit down), I would be interested in the Lexus dedicated hybrid in a few years as well. If my wait for an '08 is too long I may just hold off and wait for the re-design in '09 as a 2010 model.

Bingo. It'll probably have a more sporty feel and better MPG than the prius because of the lithium. Of course, it's all hogwash until the info is leaked or the model is debuted.
My neighbor works for Toyota Corporation in Torrance, CA and i just had a quick chat with him today. He works in Pricing/Operation management team and although he is not allowed to release any dates or detailed info on upcoming models for both Toyota and Lexus Hybrids, he stated that Lexus version of Prius will cost near $35k ~. He said they are still working on the Li-Ion battery due to its safety and long-term performance. He said it will happen soon but it wont be cheap. (One simply due to weak $ against Yen and energy cost) Seems like Toyota wants to make sure they take advantage of the demand. :juggle:

I read somewhere that the Lexus version of the Prius will only be a two seater - in order to make for an extremely comfortable experience for two passengers... Has anyone heard more on this?
You're confusing it with the (possible) hybridized version of the LF-A supercar. That is definitely out the range of most of us. (Think F430 territory)
Any guestimates on what a 2.4L/Lithium combo might do Mileagewise? 40+? If Lexus combos the 1.8L/Lithium are we going to see 60MpG. That will be worth the $6K+ Premium for many early adopters. Has there been any speculation about producing a RWD full hybrid by Lexus (not the hybrid assisted sedans). Maybe a rear mounted engine with CVT. Too much lost efficiency? Impossible with CVT? Surely there will be great anticipation in a year from now when everyone has seen what Toyota is holding after Detroit. I am looking forward to just the 1.8L Toyota. Any speculation if a Touring model will be offered in the first iteration NiMH powered Prius? But the Li Lexus could be very attractive.
If anything, I'd like to see a more stripper version of the Prius. I'm a 'base' sort of guy. All these power windows, locks, mirrors and such are too much for me. To save on weight, I think toyota should (have) made the rear seat/back removable, and perhaps run-flat tires to save on the weight of the spare. Even a smaller, two-door if it could shed some weight. And the engine in my 2001 does more than adequate, so no reason not to make that smaller, too. Think Tata Nano Prius.
With Li and a 1.5L with greater system efficiencies with the low weight you desire you are in the dream 100 mpg range. Surely, your model will be out in the next decade with a Toyota or Honda badge. Doesn't sound like a Lexus.
Run-flat tyres are heavy and it is rotating mass at the perimeter of the wheel, bad. I like the 4 door convenience but there is a place for 2 doors I guess. I'd like to see a hybrid MR2, grrr, road burner.
