Hey Toyota, listen up! I don't care about patents, royalties, or even compensation for the idea but I will be dissapointed if the Generation III Prius does not have a clutch to disengauge the drive train from the drive wheels. Give us that third pedal so that we can go freewheeling with no concerns about overspeed on MG 1 or 2. A TRUE glide!

Yes the bladder is an issue with new vehicles. I always go down to the last bar then fill it when it blinks. I always get 400-520 miles at every fillup depending on the weather. With about a 2 gal reserve when the last bar blinks that means that you've used about 9.5-10 gal. If you fill it at 2 bars left then you've used about 8-9 gal.

If your state uses 10% ethanol then you'll likely suffer a 5% ( 2 mpg ) 'loss' in fuel rating but you'll also spend 5-10% less per gallon. I use both, in NC ( 100% gas ) and in VA ( E10 ).

For most drivers will there really be a difference between the current 50MPG version vs a 65MPG one?

Now who cares about a more powerful 1.8L engine? Come on Toyota you gotta aim for 80MPG city/60MPG highway.

I think most of us over six feet would just like the seat to be lowered, period. I don't need electricity involved, I just would like to be able to see the stoplight when stopped without bending down. I'm only six feet tall and it's a huge problem for me. I have to drive with the sun visor pulled out and to the left because it gives me an extra inch or two at the top of my windshield. Visibility is horrible and it's creating a large safety issue.

That said, I can live with it, but I don't think I could if I were a couple inches taller. Everywhere else in the world, the Prius has a height adjustable seat, and I doubt it's really changing the fuel efficiency much.

I don't understand everyone who says the seat isn't comfortable, though. I think it's perfectly comfortable -- I just wish it was lower! :(

Agreed on the seat hight. On the test drives I've taken, it's the first thing I notice--fell like I'm in a mini-van (well...not really..:)), but the seat is up high.

Yes, better gas gauge. I drive 120 miles on my first bar and then <30 on the last.
Also, better gas tank [bladder]. Filler always stops about 2 ga. short. Grr.

There is a way. It's a goofy combination of pushing this so many times and holding that for so many seconds. I have forgotten the procedure (rather I've forgotten where I put my print out of the procedure.) But if you go to the tech section of PriusChat, you'll probably find it. Or your dealer can do it for you.

Bladder filling - It's probably just a quirk - or an OCD or anal retentive thing. I like maximization, completion, FUL(L)FILLment. I grew up filling UP and calculating my mileage every time. Sure the computer is calculating, but I still love to do it myself in my head as the miles go by. But I can never know if I've really filled it up unless it spills with my repeated (and annoying as hell to other patrons) triggering. And I'm not even speaking for the drivers who love to go for their best tankful.
