Short Replacement Antenna

    :idea: Anyone replaced their factory antenna with one of the short replacements?

    Listed on eBay is a German-made replacement as short as 1.2". Seems this would avoid some carwash problems. I am curious regarding how much (if any) deterioration in reception you may have experienced.

    It seems to be guaranteed...what do you have to lose besides AU$15? (plus shipping)

    I do wonder why they make 3 different lengths though.

    I "jumped the gun" a bit. Their eBay listing states that this merchandise is ONLY AVAILABLE to Australia. I have emailed the supplier to determine whether it is available in the USA.

    Hmmm, wouldn't mind switching to something like that. I want to have the option of listening to standard radio, but rarely do with XM. Even the 3" antenna would be fine.

    Keep us abreast if you find US availability.

    :) Hey fellow Prius drivers.... THANKS for your responses!

    Being interested in the 1.2" (30mm) stubby German-made antenna, I have tried to purchase on eBay but the seller is not clear on shipping costs or even the required currency even though they comment that PayPal is accepted.

    I have emailed a request for clarification. I will post followups if and as applicable.

    I finally got the one mentioned above. Looks really great. Works really bad, at least in my exurban location (60 mi N of NYC). It might be ok inan urban locale. Anybody want a very slightly used one 1/2 price?
