I attempted to hook up my Auto-Headlights today. I was not able to figure out which wires trip the headlight and running light relays. I found the harness and wire clip. It was hot as hell today and my ability to stick with it until finished ended early. Can some body post a wire schematic for this area or tell me where I can get it. Or if you can tell me which wire are what that would be great. The 3 pictures Im posting are for the plug that controls the running lights, fog lights and headlights.
If you go to https://techinfo.toyota.com you can subscribe for one day, one month or one year to access a wide array of technical information. You can from this site, download wiring diagrams, repair manual sections, etc. I hope this is helpful to you.
The headlight switch just sends signals to the body ECU. To turn on the headlights ground pin 20, should be a red wire. Normal headlight operation will also turn on the tail lights by grounding pin 18, should be a yellow wire. Headlight - Pin 20, Red Tail Lights - Pin 18, Yellow Auto - Pin 19, Green Bright - Pin 11, Red Bright Flash - Pin 17, Purple Left Turn - Pin 15, Grey Right Turn - Pin 13, Light Green Ground Wire - Pin 12, Green This is how my Prius appears to operate. While I believe this information is correct, I am not responsible for any damage arising from it's use. All information should be verified with a voltmeter.
Thanks..... So when you say ground pin x you mean on this connector in this picture. Is pin one the top left front or are they marked somewhere? Do you have a diagram of the connector and pin numbers? So I could use my auto headlight upgrade device I bought and connect the relays Normally Open to ground on one side and connect to said pins on the other? When the relays went closed at dark it would trigger the ground circuit. Im on the toyota tech site now. Where would that connector and those wires be? Ive looked under interior and exterior under headlights. I cant find that connector or light switch. I cant find a wiring diagram of the whole car either.
There are 55 separate PDF files for wiring diagrams of the 2008 Prius. You can download each of these files, or only the ones you want. They can than be viewed and/or printed out. I first tried to access the TIS site using my iMac, but found it unworkable and opted to use my wife's PC with Vista Home. The files were all very readable, printable, etc. on Vista. There is no single file showing the wiring for the entire car. Each file shows wiring diagram and connectors used in that diagram.
I noticed that. Im still not able to find the steering column light switches and connectors. This is the closest area on the website. As you can see there is NO headlight switch. I cant find the headlight switch area.
When US market Prius cars are imported into Canada, everybody finds it easier to just use an aftermarket relay to run the headlights as DRL. It's not a simple plug-and-play project I think Toyota refers to the "headlight switch" as the Combination Switch
Also, keep in mind the DRL relay and auto light sensor are for the Canadian market Prius only. That is why they don't appear in the US market Prius cars, which can cause a lot of confusion
I've got a TIS question: When using the daily subscription mode, does the day's subscription end at midnight, or 24 hours after the subscription was initiated (or something else)? Tom
I've heard both ways, it probably depends on when you subscribe. Folks have reported that if you subscribe Friday mid afternoon, you will usually have the entire weekend Or just join All Data. After my FJ download overwrote most of my Prius manuals, I joined All Data and was pleasantly surprised to discover they have pretty much the same exact information as TIS. Even the TSB's. Under $15 for an entire year subscription
I just found it in the TIS learn more page. It expires on midnight of the last day of the subscription. Thanks anyway. And thanks for the All Data tip. Tom
