I am the proud owner of a 2006 Prius. Over the past few months, I had code P Transmission Malfunction come up. Calling Toyota, they said to mention it next time I had an oil change--and naturally, the code was already gone. Yesterday I had that same code, a key with an exclamation mark through it, most of the lights in the display flashing, windows rolling down automatically, gas gauge showing full, them empty and back again and the car wouldn't start. I had it towed and picked it up today. The codes they showed were P3102, C2300 and C2318. They indicated the transmission computer was not allowing the car to go completely into park mode (scary thought) and the 12v battery was way below specs. I'm interested to learn more about what those codes mean. Is there any place I can find out?
P3102: Transmission Control ECU Malfunction C2300: Actuator System Malfunction C2318: Low Voltage Error You can find repair manual info at techinfo.toyota.com which is a subscription website. Based upon these codes, it seems reasonable to replace the 12V auxiliary battery. Were other parts replaced, and was the work done under warranty?
:welcome: Welcome to PriusChat, naturenut! A failing 12V battery can cause all sorts of weird behavior and codes. Replace the expensive little bugger and I suspect your problems will disappear. Do a search here for battery replacement and you will learn lots.
Thanks for your replies. This was done, thank goodness, on warranty. I just want to be sure there isn't something else that should have been done, but wasn't, because it was warranty work.
Sorry, but it's hard to comment since you haven't yet told us exactly what warranty work has been done.
They replaced the auxiliary battery and the tech said everything checked out okay after that. They also reinitialized the window that would go down by itself everytime you rolled it up. Everything appears to be working fine right now.
