I purchased bisque leather seats for my package 2 2008 Prius, which the dealership had made and installed for me. Seats are lumpy (don't lay flat; leather looks pulled and not properly fitted)in the rear; the dealer tells me they will "settle" smooth with time as leather gives. No one will actually use the back seats in my car. So am I being told a bunch of baloney? Or does leather actually give and potentially smooth out with time? I hate to be sold a bunch of hooey.... Any opinions? Thanks!
Leather does have somewhat of a memory to the shape that it has been in. I would think that after being installed in the car the leather would lay correctly. How long has the leather been installed? Do you have pictures?
i had custom leather seats done in the past and it is the same. it takes some time for the leather to conform to the seat. it will be all good in a week or so. no worries.
If it doesn't fit properly when it's just installed, it likely never will. Others don't have this problem with their leather installs so you shouldn't. Insist they do it to your satisfaction.
I looked at a prius that was at my local dealership that had dealer installed leather seats installed and they looked great, they laid correctly. I think if you have issues with the seats you should get them redone at the dealership, any pictures?
I paid through the nose to have the best shop in Silicon Valley install my leather interior. The install was absolutely perfect, but it better be at the price they charged me (hundreds more than other shops would charge). Not a very good picture, but hopefully you can see that there is no difference in the shape of the cushions w/aftermarket leather compared to factory fabric. I had my leather installed a little over two years ago I think.
I bought an'08 with pkg.5 ( all that was available) and really wanted heated leather. My dealer had a shop, whose work I was aquainted with, do the work, and the look and work was great. Not quite factory, because they don't have the perforated surface, but fit , quality of leather, and finish was very fine. Have yours re-done! Fred
wow.. and I thought I was super picky!!.. .lol.. absolutley no offense meant, but from the pic you posted, they look fine. I'm not sure what you mean by "lumpy"?
