I have a one week old 2008 Prius. 1) the backup buzzer drives me crazy. Is there a procedure for turning it OFF? 2) the owners manual talks about resetting the engine oil life but does not mention an "oil life monitor" to tell you % life remaining. I ASSUME the vehicle system terns on an idiot light when the vehicle calculates that the oil life is used up?? I am sure '1" must have been discussed here many times.
Congrats on your new ride! Dontcha love it? I love mine. For your question on the reverse buzzer, see #2 here: PriusOnline.com • View topic - 34 things you may not know about your Pri. The rest are really good too.
:welcome: Welcome to PriusChat, LenS! The beeps are easy to turn off, follow the link given or search here on PC. The Prius will flash a Maintenance Required light and screen warning every time you start the car starting around 4500 miles; it flashes and disappears. At 5000 miles it stops disappearing. That's the notice to take your car in for service, including changing the oil and oil filter. When the service is done, the service provider follows the procedure you read about in the manual to reset the light for the next 4500 miles. If you do your own service, you can reset the light too. There are lots of maintenance reminders you can set on the MFD, as well as a few personal reminders. Read up and play with the buttons!
"There are lots of maintenance reminders you can set on the MFD, as well as a few personal reminders. Read up and play with the buttons!" Hey Bill can you elaborate on this? Or point me to any forum topics on it.
