I want to buy a 2008 Prius w/ Package #2. I'm currently emailing different dealerships for quotes, but most of them want me to call and/or come in and speak with them. For those who have purchased a new Prius in Houston recently (w/i the last 3 months or so), how much did you pay and how was the experience at the dealer? Thanks for any help you can provide.
personally, I got mine thru cars.com emailing dealers in the dallas area - houston sucks for dealerships in general.
I got mine through Champion Toyota on the Gulf Frwy, The price of thee car was ok, 26000 for option package 4 but the platinum warranty plan was way over priced, I basically got raped for 2300 dollars. I joined Prius Chat and got a better deal with 0 deductible instead of 50 dollars and a longer monthly coverage for 990 dollars. I just for grins called Champion and told them this was the only bad experience I had in dealing with them, and was asked who in finance handled my paper work. I told them the guys name and he said he was going to chat with him. I also asked who sets the prices and was told the dealership. I at no time told them who I had purchased the new platinum warranty plan through. I don't want to bring heat down on who I got it through. I know the dealership that I eventually got it through still made money on the warranty plan which is the name of the game, but 2300 versus 990 bucks with 0 deductible versus 50 dollar deductible and a longer coverage in months, 84 instead of 72. You can ask where you buy the car about the extended platinum warranty price but don't get gouged like I did. I canceled it and went through another dealership on the warranty. And I feel I got pretty much screwed on what they gave me on my trade in. I have not seemed to have heard a lot of good stuff about dealing with Auto Nation Dealerships.
i just put down a deposit for a mag grey pri w/ package 2 with joe myers toyo off 290. i dealt with alex wier, who is in the internet dept. i called and emailed 12 diff dealers around houston and he was the first one, out of two, to give me a price over email. better yet, he dropped the price down to 23,465 (300 below mrsp). also, the 500 deposit is fully refundable. i just have to wait 3-4 weeks for my car. =) alex was very easy to deal with - very laid back. when i went, they didn't have a car for me to drive so he pulled one from their rental dept. for me to test drive. i highly recommend giving alex a call if you're interested in buying one.
