I live in the northwest suburbs of chicago and would like to test drive a Prius before deciding to be put on a 6 months waiting list. The dealership I went to (Libertyville) had a couple in the lot they let us look at/into, but did not even let us sit inside, as the cars were already sold. Pauly Toyota on Route 14 in Crystal Lake (owned by the same people as Pauly Honda in Libertyville) keeps one on the lot for test drives. I believe it is a fully-loaded model, so you'll get to see ALL the features. Should you decide on buying a Prius, (which I'm sure you will after you drive one!) I would NOT recommend purchasing your car from them. I, and many others I've talked to, have had bad experiences there.

Well, we test drove one on saterday and liked it, though we haven't completely decided between the prius and the civic hybrid. If we can track down a prius within the next few weeks without having to travel too far we are likely to buy one. If we can't find a way around the 6-9 month wait the civic sounds better. I've been without a car for 2 weeks now and while I'm lucky to be able to carpool to work with my husband, I'd rather have a car again sooner instead of later. I read last night that someone picked one up in Danville, IL. They refered to Danville as "in the middle of a cornfield" and I would agree with that statement. Check out-of-the-way places. But before you go too far, I would recommend that you send FrBill a Private message and see if his car is still for sale. I'm sure it's been very well taken care of. He's in Effingham, must closer than Danville.
Yesterday I put a deposit down on a driftwood pearl option package #4 down in Mt. Vernon, IL. I pick it up on saturday! I'm paying MSRP and spending my saturday picking up the car sure beats waiting on a list 6 months.
