The capacity to fill is 3.9 quarts; using 4 quart containers or a gallon container can not put you over more than one tenth of a quart. Or did the poster add 5 quarts? The 3.9 quart rating is with a new, empty oil filter? I still can't get concerned by a litte over - my Prius like many here came new from the dealer slightly over the full mark. I suspect they put in 4 quarts as standard at the dock. Robert
