First off, I want to say hello to everyone here on the forum. I just ordered a 2008 Prius White with Pkg. 2. I'll pick it up on May 25th from Haley Toyota near Richmond after my long vacation overseas. The local Raleigh, NC dealership has crappy customer service. I have been reading a lot on this forum, but I have some questions. I have questions about the HID. I know that it comes with the Touring model. I want to upgrade my Halogen headlights to HID. I found the McCulloch 6000K D4R kit. 1. Is D4R the correct type bulb? 2. Is the HID on the Touring model high and low beam HIDs? On some cars, only the low beam is HID and the High beams are halogens. 3. Is it difficult to get to the bulb on the headlight housing? I have search, but came up empty. Any info. is much appreciated. Any link to DIY on the HID would be great help. TIA, Tomas
if you put hid kit on you standard halogen housing it will create a lot of glare! Your reflector is designed for halogen not hid. The prius with hid OEM has this different kind of reflector. Yes, you can put HID on your prius. I think they are H4?
if u have standard halogens u need to buy the kit that works with the sockets on ur halogen headlight. d4r is only for the HID equipped prius
your bulb size is 9003.. now you need 9003/H4 HID kit http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/AutomotiveLighting/LampReplacementGuide/AutoLRG-Results.htm
Thanks again everyone for the replies, it has been very helpful. I wish the HID was offer as a single option instead of a package. My eyes are not too good at night, plus there is a lot of deers in my area.
