Anyone replaced their factory antenna with one of the short replacements? Listed on eBay and elsewhere are short replacement antennas. Seems this would avoid some carwash problems. I am curious regarding how much (if any) deterioration in reception you may have experienced. Thanks for your comments.
Followup... I just ordered the 2" (50mm) black carantenna from Germany off their eBay listing. Cost: $18.23 US (via PayPal) including shipping, 5-year warranty. They also list silver color, 1.2" (30mm) lengths and longer lengths. Took an email inquiry to clarify currency. I will post reception results, shipping time required, etc. after receipt. I have installed a short 2 1/2 inch aluminium replacement antenna (solid metal) and reception does suffer with the smaller antennas. No trouble in a metro area but could be a real problem in poor signal conditions.
