Hello I just joined this forum looking for news about the 2009 Prius. We decided to buy a Prius 08 this weekend, but my wife and I are still debating which color and package. I'm leaning towards #2 in White. The best internet offer I could find was $22,088 for this package. Well, thanks for letting me join this forum. Seems like it's full of useful information about the Prius. Eric
You want black for the best mileage. While it is the coolest color, it heats up the most quickly. Tom P.S. - If you believe this, let me know and I'll try to sell you something.
Although all Prii get great mileage and persons who purchase the car are bright, everyone knows that Magnetic Gray gets the best mileage and is purchased by only the smartest and best looking of Prius owners. In fact, Toyota only allows dealers to sell Magnetic Gray to the top 1% of smart beautiful people.
but blue is the best! seaside or spectra will do, haha. ps: what i actually heard was that they only sell gray to the fibbers. i mean, what they say is all shades of gray anyway, haha. j/k.
It depends on the season, and what lattitude you live at. But in general, Black gets the best mileage in winter, and white gets the best mileage in summer. You can cover your car with an LCD film that allows you to change the color of your car at will. Many of us have done this mod with great effect on mpg. Do a search, it will turn up dozens of hits.
This would make a great joke experiment.....to analyze everyone's car color and mpg and see if there was any difference. You laugh....but.... We have a yearly event where I go to school called the Harpoon seminar, on April 1st, where people present "joke" research in seminar format. One year someone actually analyzed the color composition of the M&Ms from the various vending machines around campus and there WAS a statistical difference between the north and south sides of the campus. It was pretty funny.
Silver Pine Mica. No doubt. Obviously. If I need to explain why . . well, then, you just don't get it.
Maybe color won't get you better mpg, but one of my "racing-hobist" co-workers applied duct-tape over all the 'openings' on his quarter mile racer. After duct taping his doors, trunk hood, etc, it actually DID shave time of his quarter mile runs. Smooth surface equals better mpg. With that in mind, go wash the bird pooh off your Prius... buff a couple coats of wax on, and you'll do better mpg wise than measuring one color from the other.
Definitely go with magnetic gray for the best mileage. It's the only color that employs the earth's magnetic fields for enhanced propulsion.
