I am gong to "FIX" every irritating feature on this car. I started with the seats and now Im on to the headlights. I used to have auto headlights in my 4x4 2500 and I want them in the prius.

If I make a kit how many want to buy this? I dont know the price right now but it should be sub-100. I will need a timer, relay, light sensor and a tie in plug. If anyone has any good input let me know. This wont effect your airbags so lets not discuss those again.

Again how many are interested in a group buy auto headlight On/Off mod?

I dont care so much about that mod but my wife would. She also wants the doors to auto lock at speeds above 10 or 15 mph.

If they were available she would want both.

I know the MFD by default will display maps and such in white on black when the switch is on during the day but other than that why not just keep the headlight switch on all the time if you want daylight running lights? I don't know about prior years but my '08 will shut the headlights off automagically once the vehicle is off. In fact my wife usually forgets to shut the headlights off after she drives it at night because her car has auto lights and she isn't used to switching lights off.

I guess I should have started a new thread for this discussion, however,

One of the first questions I asked the dealer when I was buying the 2008 Prius was if "...it had automatic headlights like the Camry." The answer was "yes".

I can't believe a car salesman would lie to a customer. After all, this is a new car, not a used one. (cliché intended)

I can truly say that I have never met a car salesman who did tell the whole truth. I've met a few who would tell you most of the truth but just have to lie a bit thinking they will lose the sale with the truth.

The car sold itself to me. My concerns with the sales guy was how the dealership was going to charge and support me. :violin:

    yea I know.

My FIRST trip to the dealer I asked to see a Prius. Salesman said I didn't want one and showed me a bunch of Corollas. So I left. A note to the General Manager and a few days later he (the GM) introduced me to his best salesman. A few hours later and we had a deal.

When the GM calls you by your first name you get all kinds of attention around the dealership.

OK, so it's not exactly funny. I'll bet that first salesman wasn't laughing. :)

I thought about a story from Nantucket but decided against it. Sorry.

I just never turn my headlights off. I am not sure if all Prii have the auto-off headlight function, but, if so, why not just leave them on all the time?

I want this mod. I too had a Chevy 2500 with auto headlights. Matter of fact my last 2 vehicles had this feature. I miss it.

Its a good idea, keep it relatively cheap and relatively easy and you will have a winner there. I have HID's on the 08 and really don't want to keep them on all the time as it tends to reduce their longevity significantly. Would be nice to have them come on at dusk and shut off all automatically. I don't need daytime running lights but auto on at dusk and auto off when you turn the car off is a good thing:)

OK heres a follow up. I have a parts kit assembled. Now I will make a way to easily add it to the car. Give me a week or two to get this done. I will post a follow up when finished.
