Hi all... I just picked up my new 2008 silver Prius with the #6 package on Saturday (4-19-08). I have to say that I love the car already! I'm still in the process of reading the manual and trying to learn about all of the bells and whistles... It's so different from other cars I've had (Infiniti, Mercedes, Passat), so it is taking some getting used to. My user name refers to my two Maltese ... Kallie (6 years old) and Catcher (4 years old). I look forward to meeting you and learning more about this incredible car!
Welcome to the forum KallieCatcher's Mom, happy to have you here. Much good info can be had at PC - and no question is a dumb one - your incredibly smart car does require some retraining in some things that we've come to take for granted or that we continue to assume. I look forward to hearing more about your first impressions. Have fun!
I've had mine since the 11th and am still learning. Don't brake so hard, my hubby advises, don't accelerate that quickly he adds. When i drive it I feel calmer since it's so quiet and sleek!
Welcome. IMO brisk acceleration is better as you experience low mpg for a shorter period of time. Learning is a continuous process.
Welcome aboard KallieCatcher'sMom. This forum is a great resource. I agree with the sentiment that "no question is a dumb one"......but some are close!! Like, ferinstance, the guy yesterday or the day before who'd bought a Prius a couple of weeks ago and had finally gotten low on gas and couldn't find the lever to open the gas-cap door, so wrote in and asked. He, deservedly, caught a bit of good-natured flak. Lots of good stuff in that owner's manual!! Heck, it even has a pretty decent index. But seriously, the folks here are pretty nice and good-natured, unlike some other forums to which I've belonged.
I am a newbie too. I have never read instructions to anything in my life but I must admit that I finally broke down and read the owners manual and still refer to it. I went from an old minivan to the Prius so It took some time to adjust. In fact, I am still adjusting. I still don't know where the 12 v small battery is. I think it is dead. lol I am married and have 3 children ages 6,8,and 9. Welcome to the forum.
Your babies are beautiful!!! What kind of dog is the black one? I have a mini weiner dog named Rufus. He is a little clown.
Thanks. Dingo is an Australian Kelpie, as far as I can tell. She is all black except for a white blaze going up her chest. Black Kelpies are also known as Barbs. She is a SPCA rescue that was 1 year old when I adopted her. She could be a mix (Kelpie/Border Collie) but its impossible to tell. She is a very sweet dog. Digby is a Min Pin mix. I call him the Mutant Min Pin. He might be part Dachshund, but we can't tell. He is also known as the Evil Genius and a few other nicknames which are not as nice. He is very smart and playful but very jealous. He is also a SPCA rescue that was about 1 year old when we adopted him. They are now inseparable and approx 3 years old.
They are both so precious. My min dachshund keeps me laughing. He eats anything that is not nailed down. I call him turd eater sometimes. He loves to invade the litter box. We keep him out but once in a while he manages to sneak in. He also eats toilet paper like it is cotton candy. He wants our cat to be his friend but she thinks she is too good for him. Rufus loves the Prius. All i have to do is shake my keychain and he is ready to roll. Dingo is an Australian Kelpie, as far as I can tell. I will have to get my husband to take one. Rufus sits on my left arm while I drive. This used to be okay until he started gaining a lot of weight. I am not a big woman so it looks like Rufus is driving. I will get hubby to take one soon. That should be a hoot.
Hey,, I have dogs too!!, I have 2 long haired mini Dachshunds named Heidi and Princess.. They are sisters and 3 yrs old.. They actually got the very first ride in the new Prius. I dropped them off at the groomers the morning I bought the car and picked them up before heading home, so my little weiners got the first ride before my husband and daughter did!!!
