You did know the Mazda Tribute and the Ford Escape are the same vehicle didn't you? This is the FEH in Mazda trim. It's been coming (promised) for two years now. You can also get the same vehicle in "luxury finish" as the Mercury Mariner. If I recall correctly, the next Motorweek episode will be testing it.
there's also an altima hybrid that you probably have never seen cause its also only avail in a few states, i saw one on a trip to vegas
Is the reviewer correct in describing the transmission as a conventional CVT, or is it Toyota's e-CVT solution (I thought Ford/Mazda had licenced Toyota's technology) ?
The Tribute is now available in all of the states. The link below has a short article and a photo gallery of the Mazda Tribute Hybrid. Mazda speeds up the production of the Tribute Hybrid - AutoblogGreen
Too Bad FORD ended up buying Mazda. Its just an Escape Hybrid in a different shell.(Just like the mercury Mariner Hybrid) I really hope ford can make more reliable cars.
According to Mazda customer service, Ford is only building 250 Mazda Tribute Hybrids in 2008. They will all be sold in California.
