The Gods smiled upon the Ozarks today and I got a taste of what kinds of mpg I might get this Spring and Summer.

I took my usual 25ish minute 13mile commute to work that's been seeing 44-46 mpg in the more seasonal weather (30-50F). I had 3/4 bars nearly touching the 75mpg mark and only the first 5 min bar was below the 50mpg mark (cheated slightly as the car was warmed a bit from a short commute to pick up the kids before leaving for work). Still, very exciting to see what I might be able to expect with my now broken in Prius!!

Sounds exciting Evan! The weather was warm here too (50 degrees - a real heat wave for Erie) and I saw my first 95 mpg five minute bar - following a school bus heading into the city. The ICE never came on for at least 3 miles of the journey! Spring can't come soon enough.

Im up to 49.2 now..I had two 5 min 100mpg bars today going down blue diamond, nice long lights inbetween.. think i founda new route to work actually, they have really done some good work with the road's in this area..very wide, 3 lanes each..and mile distance lights at least...good for P&G. And it's pretty much level grade, so no uphill crap like rolling up the main drag in vegas, trop or sahara blvd..which can be brutal going westbound..about 8 miles up hill gradually. I have yet to run A/C, i just crack the rear left window to let some cool breeze into the vent for the BAT. When it hits 100, ill run AC

Spring is here on Long Island, too. I had my first ever fill-up where the MFD registered >50mpg! With regular gas now topping out at $3.699 locally, I was ecstatic to see my mpg rising!

Our local radio station announced today that hybrid sales in New York have risen by more than 50% in the past 2 months. I guess more people are "getting it."

    By the way...HAPPY EARTH DAY!!!!

Wow Neicy...you dug up one old thread here!!
You guys are doing great. I think we've finally shed the last bit of winter here as well. I'm seeing 72mpg 200 miles into this tank. May have some longer highway trips upcoming that will drop that down, but it's sure nice to see just what the car is capable of when conditions are good.

I took off my blocked grille because it was 75 two weeks ago. then my mpg went from 42 up to 48. Last week I was getting 55mpg, and now though I am back to 50mpg because in the morning it is still cold (40 F) but I can't complain.

Do you mean the lower grill where the fogs lights are? I am only getting 44.4 staying within speed limits and coasting. Ever since my computer was upgraded on a few oil changes by toyota I get mpg in the low 40's. I use to get like 52. Do any of you guys have other tricks?

My mileage was improving, the weather was warming up .. and then winter came back WITH AVENGANCE! Its been snowing for 4 days straight .. I took my car out yesterday - briefly ..great traction control... not so great stopping control on ice :p (don't worry it surivived).

It will now remain in the garage until winter goes away again.

I reset my MPG average when the weather got warmer. I am on my 3rd tank and averaging 58.3 MPG. Before the reset, my average was 52.5 MPG. I gained 5+ MPG.

That's excellent! I certainly can't achieve those numbers at 45mph.

I only had the upper part of the grille blocked. I took that out. It's nice and warm here in the afternoon but I still get terrible starting mileage.
