Anyone have any experience with Protect Gard HP tint in a Prius? A co-worker used to work for a Toyota dealership and recommended a particular tint shop. Thanks to the "friend of a friend" discount they can do the Prius for $185 with a Lifetime Warranty. The tint they use is Protect Gard HP Dye Metallized. They say there is no worry about reception issues, but I seem to hear everywhere that metallic tint will interfere with GPS or SKS. I like the price and lifetime warranty, just not sure about the brand and metal content. Any words of support and otherwise out there? Thanks in advance, David
If I were you I go for Huber Optik ceramic tint. They are pricey but very good. I have it on my 07 prius it works very good. Good Luck!!
We have a different brand but it is metalic and lifetime warranty so it should be very close to what you are looking at. Have all windows tinted and a 6 inch drop down on the top of the windshield. I have had no problem with my Magellan GPS which sets on the door below the radio nor with the SKS.
Protect Gard is not a household name for a reason...sputtered film...clarity issues!!! My shop uses exclusively SolarGard Supreme HP which is a hybrid film and optically superior to any film I have used including Huper Optik,3M,Llumar,Sun-Tek etc...Unfortunately there are so many choices out there and not enough time to do a pro and con comparison!!! For those of you who choose to go with a $500.00+ tint job then Huper Optik is your choice but if you would like a Fantastic looking film, super clarity after drying, and a 45 minute turnaround...Look no further than Hallstar Tint & Detail Inc. and our Computer Cut heroics along with microedge technology for a mere $225.00 installed with Lifetime warranty which is transferrable!!! Thank You!!!!
