    Houseofyin,
    Here are the steps:

    1) Power up Prius
    2) Set up Prius to Receive Connection from Treo
    3) Go to Treo Bluetooth Setup for Car
    4) Enter Passkey on Treo when prompted
    5) Treo will "finish" the connection, but Prius will still be waiting
    6) Make a call immediately from the Treo (initiated on the Treo)
    7) Prius will pair and you will be connected via the Prius' handsfree

The system will work from now on. Signal strengh bar does not work (but who cares).

Make sure your Treo is set up to "allow wakeup" under the bluetooth prefs menu.

    Good luck

I notice a couple people mentioned this, yet I have no problem with this. I believe it's fixed by setting the bluetooth setting on the t650 to "Allow Device Wakeup".

I'm willing to set up temporary contacts just so I can transfer them to the car. However, I keep sending contacts that have a name, but NO numbers. Which field should I put the number in so it will transfer to the prius? Mobile, Work, Home, etc?

I transferred my Phone Book from the Treo650 to the Prius (just picked it up on Tuesday!) and while most of the numbers went just fine, some numbers show "||||||||||" for the number, and obviously those don't work.

Anybody else ever run into that? I haven't been able to think of a reason why one name/number went just find and another is messed up like that...

Ah, I figured it out. The Prius doesn't like the extra characters I have in some numbers (ie, parentheses and dashes). So if it's 8005551212 that's fine but (800) 555-1212 doesn't work when it transfers.

Is anyone getting inconsistent callerID data? Sometimes I see the callerID showing up on the Prius, other times not, even when the phone itself shows the callerID info.

Also, can the Prius be configured to make any sort of ringing noise when the phone rings? Before you call me crazy, the reason being that I always keep my phone on vibrate for work reasons. The Prius alerts us to a call on the screen, but it's purely visual. Any way to get an audible notification other than switching the phone to ring?

There's a way to get a "negative" ring. If the audio system is on, it automatically mutes when a call comes in. Works for me. When you hear silence, look at the MFD and see that there's a call.

It's because you have multiple entries for that contact in your database. The Prius doesn't know what to do with these records. The vast majority of my contacts have more than one number, making this particular phone book exchange worthless to me.

Actually I have no problem transferring contacts with more than 1 number. The only number that the Prius gets is the Home number, it ignores the other numbers.

But parentheses around the area code totally mess it up. Removing those let my phone book transfer smoothly and cleanly.

Another problem I've experienced with the 650 and the Prius is that when caller ID rings, it throws the first caller off, and takes about 5 seconds to answer the new caller... odd behavior (especially for the people at the other end of the line). Anyway, I'm returning my 650 today after 14 days. I think it's a great device, but in the process of making it, they obviously started with a PDA and tried to glom a phone onto it. I'd prefer the reverse... I want a phone with some PDA functions. The compromise that was made is just a bit annoying... for example, it takes a little while to initiate a call sometimes on the Treo, and the call quality through the handset itself (I've been told) is not that great for the person on the other end (although I think the Bluetooth Prius connection is pretty good). What I want doesn't presently exist, so I'll stick a while with my non-Bluetooth phone.

Rumors are swirling that Apple might make some announcement next week of my perfect solution (a flip phone that will allow me to connect via Bluetooth to my car, and to my computer for syncing up contacts and calendar items), so we shall see. I'm not holding my breath, but you never know with Apple. It kills me how few phones are out there that allow you synchronize phone numbers with your computer: what I believe to be the most important function of a mobile phone as anybody who has spent hours manually transferring numbers from one phone to another can attest. I don't want a phone to take pictures, record video, play songs, or connect to the internet if it can't be used well for it's original purpose: to make phone calls!

I've added the software update, I have "allowed wakeup", when I enter the Prius I get a message on the car display that the Bluetooth connection was successful--and after about 10-15 seconds the Bluetooth connections dies.

I've tried re-installing the software update 4 times. I've deleted and reinstalled the Treo 650 innumerable times on the car. I've had successful calls out, and once connected they stay connected for the duration of the calls. But trying to make another call immediately fails.

    Ideas?

Re: Treo 650 and dropped calls

My new Treo 650 works well with the Prius but also drops the current call and eventually picks up the new caller. Has anyone found a workaround for this?

    Thank.

we might have to wait for an updated patch from p1 to solve this issue.
