Poll - How many have disabled reverse Beep

I turned off my beep the first week I had the Prius and have since disabled 2 Prius' on my block and soon my cousin's Prius (when his and my paths cross next).

Should probably add an option for 'Disabled Beep -- Had Issue'.. I don't know of anyone that would vote for this but in all fairness

 

Dislike the beep, but too lazy to disable it.

My VCR and DVDR still flash "12:00" too.

 

Can't disable it on vehicles sold outside of NA.
Now I'm used to it.

 

You did not have a choice for those of us who disabled the internal beep, but added a buzzer that could be heard both inside and outside.

 

My wife wants me to add the outside beeper for kids and animals.

 

...and the blind, don't forget them!

Actually, I'd like a beeper on the outside, too. I worry, especially in really crowded parking lots.

We had discussed trying to find out how to disable the backup beeper before we even bought the prius. i just happened to stumble on this forum today and as soon as i found the answer to our dilemma, i rushed outside to do it. i emailed hubby and he was soooooooooo impressed....that i found out how to stop it and that i did it myself. well, i am the techno-geek in the family....LOL. he writes technical manuals for aircraft but im the computer expert. which, if you think about it, thats what you are doing when you turn the beeper off. its like turning off the windows startup and shutdown wav's. you just have to know how to do it! thanks for that help y'all.

 

I turned off the reverse beep, but installed a beeper in the rear tail light so I still have a reverse beep, only now it can be heard outside too.

 

Same problem, same result.

Still would like to disable the internal beep, and have an external one.

 

I have no desire to disable the beep. It's a safety feature that I don't care to reverse. I can see one day, when there's a lot on my mind, that this feature will come in handy. It's a keeper .....

 

My wife and I think the inside beep is strange, especially since there is no outside beep. However I asked her if she wanted me to disable it but she said no because it is a conversation piece.

 

I disabled it on all three Prius I ever rented... and re-enabled it when I returned it. I will disable it on my new baby when I pick her up this week

 

turned the beep off in june when i bought my 07, it drove me crazy the first night when i went out to cruise around a bit. I did however leave the seatbelt alert on, while i wear my seatbelt 90% of the time, at various times the little chirp has reminded me to buckle up

 

I would not have purchased the vehicle without knowing that the reverse beep could be disabled. Had a complete tantrum at the car dealer when I heard it on the last 10 seconds of my test drive, when the salesman decided to make sure I saw the backup camera. Later, DH reminded me that Prius 1 had made the same horrible noise until he disabled it 3 years prior. I took the instructions with me to the dealer when I went to bring it home. Yes it does bother me that much.

 

me too, got rid of it the first week or so we had the car.

 

Disabled it within 24 hours of purchasing the car. Now to stop the seatbelt warning..........
