Can someone tell me if the EV MOD will void the warranty on my new 2008 Prius? Also, just how far can I expect to drive in EV mode? The streets around my house are all 25-35 MPH, and I thought it would be cool to not use any gas just to run to the store which is only about 2.5 miles away from me; 5 mile round trip.

On EV, a mile would be pretty good, and during that 5-mile trip the ICE would be running a lot just to recharge.

Lots of threads about the warranty and the EV mod. I'm pretty sure if the dealer knew you had it, and the battery was bad (for ANY reason), you might have a fight on your hands.

I have the coastal mod in my 07 and after about 5000 to 7500 miles (read broken in) I rarely use it anymore. It seems that after a good break in the car knows what to do all by itself and I am getting on average 53+ mpg. I drive the speed limit and use the cruise control as much as possible; nothing else. Put the mod in if you want but you will eventually find it is not really needed.

Thank you, too all of you, that replied. Sounds like maybe I dont need really need that EV mod. Sounded cool, but after all your input maybe just waste of my time and money.
Thank's again for the input , and just want to say " I Love my Prius".
Mod list I'm saving for right now:
All weather mats, front and back plus the cargo liner
    Mud flaps
    Rear bumper guard
Bra, or Bro in my case, or maybe Manzere. :D
Any suggestions on a good place to get that Bra ;) for 2008 Prius? Any other mods that might be worth my wild?:boink:

I will say that the EV mod has been known to make you lose MPG, just because of the recharge time. Used correctly it's fine.

I rarely use mine, just when I need to move the car a short distance like around a large parking lot.

I don't have the EV Mod. I find that when my battery if close to full, that I can drive about 3 miles staying under 41 mph in total elec mode. Of course there are stoplights that I use to regenerate along the way, but it's pretty cool to go that far without the ICE.

If you "hypermile", then it's essential. Otherwise, don't bother. That pretty much sums it up.

I am still thinking to do the EV Mode mod, mainly just wanted to 'delay' S1 when the condition is right as well as for some short trips (or even just moving the car around mall parking lot)

I got an all weather bra for my 2008 Prius on Auto Anything. com I believe it was about $65 and the name brand is Le-Bra. It has done a great job especially since i have a white prius and the front end was getting pretty dinged up from rocks and what not.

From your experience, when it is in EV Mode, does the motor give you a bit more horsepower than non-EV mode?

The reason why I am asking is, *sometimes*, when I tried to feather the gas paddle, it still goes from regen (i.e. not stepping on gas) to ICE. Condition was around 30-40km/h, flat road, battery has 8 bars sometime even 9 bars (green), have been driver for 15+ minutes, outside temp is 20+ C'. It is as if the car doesn't have enough horsepower.

The other times, it works fine. I could even run on EV on hwy at ~100-110km/h if the condition is right.

I am just wondering (and I think I have read it somewhere) EV mode will gives more horse power to the motor before ICE kicks in (i.e. you have to step on the gas really hard)

But then winter is coming, EV mode will not work until next summer... no point for me to do the mod now. (On the other hand, EBH would be good)
