Mine replaced a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan that we bought new in 2003. Back then - we planned on doing alot of highway driving and cross country site seeing. A big Van was ideal. Then gas prices went up and my my job tied me down. So at 80,000 miles - and before any major maintennance might be required - we decided it was time for a smaller commuter car - with good gas milage being the big deciding factor. Drove a number of competing cars (Hybids included) and chose the Prius - better MPG wins out!
My Hummer H2 2005 Lease Is up. So Just bought a 2008 Black Prius, fully loaded. Luving It. With Gas at $3.65/gallon.. I am done with SUV's for now.. People laughed at me at first, but I think I am starting a Logical trend In my Bizzzz. Even the toyota peps, seemed confused at my radical change In transportation.. I am feeling better, knowing at times my car IS ZERO Emmisions... MikeyD
Within the next few days, the Prius will replace my 96 VW Jetta GLX. Great car when it's working, but it's been in the shop waaaaaay too many times. I honestly probably spent as much on repairs as I did on the purchase of car itself. I will NEVER AGAIN buy a VW.
The Prius replaced my previous car, a 2002 Toyota Corolla Sedan. Great car, superbly reliable, after 107,000 km the only things replaced were a set of front disc brake pads and the usual sundries (wiper blades etc.). But we fell in love with a Prius, so the Corolla was traded in. We still kept the other Corolla (2005 Sedan), though, so we're still a 100% Toyota family
When it arrives my Prius will be replacing a 2nd hand SMART fourtwo! Bought the smart as Ineeded a cheap ,left hand drive car fast. Replacing 'cos it's too small to really do much with - great around town, but difficult to transport things with, and as I've started golf lessons need to carry around clubs and theres just no room. Got the Prius as it is just a great ca&r - has enough toys to keep even the biggest gadget junkie occupied on long journeys. Thats the other reason - I drive from Switzerland to manchester, UK at least once a year - in a smart thats too far.
We replaced a 2000 Honda CRV which got about 25mpg for this wonderful hybrid which is getting about 20mpg more. We love passing up gas stations plus we are very happy with the ride.
My Prius replaced a 2005 VW New Beetle with Tiptronic that got 27 MPG and on a lucky day 29-30. Missing the 'handling' but love, love the Prius. I got Seaside Blue with pkg #6. The Prius is amazing and I am so glad I made the change!!!!
Hopefully I will be replacing my '06 Chrysler 300C HEMI AWD with a Prius soon! We LOVE the 300 but I drive almost all city and I only get 16-17 mpg. Put the ad in the paper yesterday to sell the 300 so everyone wish me luck, please!
I traded in my 06 xB for Prius, I originally wanted to buy a prius in 06 but there were so hard to find on the lot. So, I bought the xB should of just waited for one in 06 and saved me the money.
I've got a '01 Toyota Sequoia that's just been killing me at the pump. Unfortunately the market is not too large for one of these used and I'm having an awful time selling it. I'd trade it in but even the dealer doesn't want it and will only give me a small percentage of what it's worth. As soon as it's gone.....the Prius will definitely be in the garage.
2005 Nissan Frontier NISMO: Loved the truck, just not the fuel economy. REALLY love the Prius! ... Brad
2000 RHD Jeep Cherokee: lifetime 13 mpg, miss the 10,000 gallons of gas I poured through it. Prius 40500 miles @ 43 mpg average. Jerry
I traded in my 2005 Saturn VUE 4cyl. It was getting about 19 city and 23 hwy. I don't miss it at all, never liked it much in the first place.
Replaced my 1997 Ford Mustang. EPA on that baby is 17/20, although I got closer to 12 in the city, likely due in part to San Francisco's huge hills. Considering I'm getting anywhere between 45-60 mpg now, I'm using 1/3 or 1/4 the gas and saving myself several thousand dollars each year.
i replaced my 2002 explorer sport-average 16 MPG. now im averaging 50, and i just checked my tires and saw they were drastically under inflated. i'll fill them up tonight on my way home and see what happens.
