I can read all the things that are covered by the warranty and extended warranties, but what I'm wondering is - what are the common things that are NOT covered? Not an exhaustive list (unless it already exists - link please?)... just the "common" repairs that have occurred, but were not covered. I can imagine taking my new car in for a repair, and the dealer saying, "oh, your widget-n-cogs are bad. but those aren't covered by the warranty unless a UFO lands on your car during game 7 of the Wold Series"
Attached below is a LIST OF EXCLUDED ITEMS from the brochure for the Toyota Extra Care Platinum Plan extended warranty:
Also, the Toyota Financial Services website has this to say about the Platinum Plan and its excluded components: "Note: Platinum protection covers virtually all component groups on new vehicles. If your new vehicle's component does not appear on our List of Excluded Components , it is covered by Platinum protection." "List of Excluded Components Accessory Drive Belts Batteries Body Panels Brake Linings, Pads and Shoes Bumpers Carpet Chrome Clutch Friction Disk and Pressure Plate Dash Cover and Pad Door Trim, Handles and Fabric Filters Fluids Glass (including Windshield) Headliner Heating Hoses, Lines and Tubes Hinges Hybrid System Main Relays Hybrid Vehicle Battery Hybrid Vehicle Battery Module/Pack Hoses Interior and Exterior Trim Moldings, including but not limited to, Cup Holders, Ashtrays, Covers, and Vents Lamps Light Bulbs Nuts, Bolts, Clips, Retainers and Fasteners Paint Rotors and Drums Rust and Corrosion Damage Seat Covers Service Plug Shiny Metals Spark Plugs Structural Framework and Wells Tires Vacuum Hoses, Lines and Tubes Weather Stripping Wheels and Rims Windshield Wiper Blades (Rubber Component)"
wow, that's exactly what i wanted know. i feel embarrassed for asking, now that i see how obvious it was published what's up with the hybrid components here? i thought the battery had a 10 year warranty (in california only?)?
Hardly obvious. They couldn't have hidden the info better. On the Toyota Financial Services website, the list of excluded items from the Platinum plan is deeply buried as a link in a footnote. * * * * * There's no need to include the hybrid components in any of Toyota's extended warranties because the hybrid system is already warranted for 8 years/100,000 miles, and even longer in some states.
Would the IGI Relay Module be considered one of the Hybrid Components? PS Answer given in other thread, the IG1 relay is not part of Hybrid System, thanks guys.
