That movie was so far ahead of it's time it isn't even funny. I bawled my eyes out at the end of that. It should be required viewing. I am sorry to hear about his passing.
Ben Hur is one of my favorite classic moves, I'll watch it again tonight in his memory. May he rest in peace.

If you don't own it, get the widescreen DVD version. I have it. One of the first I bought when I finally bought a DVD player. It should be against the law to "pan and scan" that film.
It's too bad he started to lose it the last few years of his life. When I think of him now, I mostly picture a confused old man, instead of the great actor that he was. Tom

If you haven't seen: Rua Alguem 5555 One of the last things Mr. Heston did, I believe. I think it's worth the download ~ certainly a big cut above a lot of the 'B' movies done during the middle of his life time.
I don't think he had much choice, responsibility or capability to affect his loss of mental capacity since Alzheimer's is incurable and a equal opportunity disease. Wildkow
