Got my windows tinted today (20% all the way around) it was raining when I got home so my pics not to good but will post some more when weather clears up. I have also removed wheel rings..I really like the way it looks with the tint and maybe now people will quit slowing down to look in car... still at 52 MPG on second tank got about 330 miles on this tank so far with 4 pips left ..
Looks great. Make sure you don't open your windows until they have a chance to dry. From the looks of the weather you are getting, it may be a few days. That is the color I wanted. I was planning on putting anthracite or darker wheels on it though.
Congrats on the tint, I went 20% on mine as well. Those are some nice wheels, I especilly like to top ones on a gray car.
Steamboatsig Man I love those wheels on that grey prius are they anthracite? Tell me all you can about them I would love to have a set of those when my others wear out...Would love to know who owns that car see if they affected MPG's..Thnaks for sharing those pic's
Guaranteed loss of mpg, probably 2-5mpg. They are an option on the Priuses at Hollywood Toyota. The upgrade costs $1995. The size is 225/40 R18. Not sure of the brand, I can't make out the writing on the center cap. It says "Racing Type" on one of the arms. If you like that look, just search on Tirerack.com and check out their selection of 5 star wheels. There are a ton of them. The rims on the red Prius are the Katana Stage.
I found 2 places that will do a Prius tint for $150, one in Northridge, and one in Woodland Hills. I believe the one in WH is called Solar Eclipse Window tint, any shade is that price. I have the exact same car, silver and the tint makes it look SOOO much sportier, not to mention it keeps the sun rays out.
I have been wanting to get tint since I bought mine in November 07. I can't seem to find a decent place here in NJ. I even spoke to the dealership and they never call me back. in NJ I can only have the back windows tinted not the whole car though but I would imagine the cost will be around $100
I don't think we'll ever see a dealer here in PA. that offers that much option. You guys are lucky there in Cali....lots of selection. As far as aftermarket wheels are concerned that is bigger than stock, I also believe that mpg will suffer a little. For me, no plans in changing the stock wheels...for I am trying to maximize mpg.
I live in Morehead got it done at a place called the tint shop this guy does good work cost me $175..
Well the weather finally cleared up a bit so I washed the prius thought I would post a better pic. of it..Man I love this car ...
Window tinting cost in Maryland run from $175 to $240 depending on what type of film you select. It's odd to me that tinted windows aren't even an option for the Prius?
I would imagine since tinting is regulated in some states that may be the root cause of a lack of tinting options nationally. Did you have all the windows (little one on hatchback included tinted) other than the windshield done? Looks great and that is the look I'm going for once I pick up mine. Thanks for posting the pics. ~Matt
I did not have that little window tinted on the hatchback but did get the strip on the front windshield..I am really happy the way it turned out..
I know that some cars come with the tint option, my 2006 4runner has tinted glass on all but the windshield, driver and passenger windows. I think it would be nice to have a tinted glass option on the Prius, but i think they look better with all the windows tinted with aftermarket tinting.
