Hi everybody, I am visiting my folks and have introduced them to my new Prius. They are most impressed, of course - just astounded by the technology and quality of the car. This is my first long trip in it (about 300 miles). I got around 47 mpg. My current average is 50.3 mpg. It was at 52, but dropped some because of this trip. I need to re-read some of the articles I saved from this site about techniques to use when driving at higher speeds. Anyway, my mom and I went driving and shopping today in it and the strangest thing happened. I was able to stealth drive at 52 miles per hour and a few times in the upper 40s. Normally, I cannot do so at speeds above 40. I can't explain this because I didn't drive any differently than I normally do. I was very pleased, of course, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this experience. I'm hoping I can continue to have this new supa power. I've passed 1000 miles in it (I'm right at 1200 miles). What glorious miles they have been! I love my Prius so much...
Yep, they're wonderful cars. Here's a link to Hobbit's musing on Warp Stealth. You must have had a well charged battery.
LOL So funny you should mention, as about 20 minutes ago I was cruising along at 75 on a slightly but not by much downhill freeway (in my 2002 prius, old kind), and I completely randomly caused all the arrows to go away and got it into warp stealth (and stayed that way for quite some time), something I had been trying and failing to do for a while! I'm not too sure why it prefers doing it at higher speeds, but I'll no doubt figure it out soon... Anyway, Hobbit's stuff on warp stealth, pulse and glide, ecodriving etc are required reading, very helpful and informative.
