This might be old news, but it really made my day when I saw it last night. Next time you watch a movie, be sure to look out for the Get Shorty 2 trailer. They have a sequence in there with John Travolta driving in a Prius and being questioned about it by a fellow mobster. His reply was - "Didn't you know the Prius is the new Cadillac?"
Sorry, but word has it that the car is a Honda Insight...if you look carefully at the logo on the trunk, it's an "H"... Also, your quotation changes the meaning of the lines a little...to paraphrase it would be more like: "Did you know that this is the Cadillac of hybrid cars" and in response to Danny DeVito's character's challenge "you need a fast car" Travolta shoots back "if you're an important person, they'll wait" Take a look at the trailer on-line at any of the movie sites. wildplaces
Regardless of that promotional speech, it won't boost Insight sales. It's a 2 seater with little cargo space and a manual transmission vehicle (At least in Canada). Not exactly going to win the public over. I do like it's design though; it's kinda cool.
Word about the discontinuance of the Insight has been going around for some time now. However, it is still mentioned on the Honda web site. However, when you go to buy one on the Honda web site, it takes you to the 2004. For all the other cars, it takes you to the 2005, but not the Insight. So what's the story?
Yeah, that's definetly the Honda Instight, but it is A GOOD THING that it is the Insight because remember in "Get Shorty" when the Cadillac of Minivans was a Oldsmobile Silhoutte mini van - sort of a joke on cars? Well, to me, the insight represents the same joke on cars with a HYBRID for today's Hollywood Hybrid driver, the insight is definetly the joke on hybrids. A Hybrid spoof have you. Had it made the most sense, it would have beena Prius but that wouldn't be a spoof on Hybrids. At least they have a hybrid in the movie. I really enjoyed Get Shorty. This one, as all sequels, doesn't look the same par. Just my take Here's the link to the trailer. The Hybrid is in the last segment: http://www.apple.com/trailers/mgm/be_cool/
the insight in its best days sold only a few hundred a month. stopping production wouldnt change much would it?
According to the article mentioned in this thread, it appears that Insight production will continue -- though in very low numbers.
ya saw that thread, i guess my "few hundred a month" was a pipe dream for honda.... i cant believe that they sold FIVE for the month on Nov... unreal
