I just received the Dice kit for my 08 non JBL Prius. Install was easy and I have just been using the aux. input since the 08 base models don't have one. I don't think my DICE is the Silverline, I don't really know the difference. My question is: Is there a way to control the internal volume of the Dice box? It currently sounds good, but I notice when I go from CD to the Dice unit, the volume is much lower on the Dice. I really have to crank it which causes some distortion. I have tried my MP3 player and Sat. radio through the Dice and I have the same problem with both. The sound quality is pretty good, I can't complain about that. But it is annoying that I have to turn it up so loud, especially when I don't when playing a CD. Anyone know what I can do, if anything?
The aux. is what I've been using on the Dice. Is there a way to turn up the output volume from the Dice besides just cranking the Prius stereo? I didn't see anything on the box when I installed it, but I could have missed it.
if you are using the headphone jack on your MP3, you may want to turn the volume of the MP3 all the way up, then use your car stereo to control the volume.
First you have to have it in the AUX mode. Press 1 on the MFD then the ^ on the steering wheel (not the volume buttons). 1-4 controls volume, bass, mid and treble. I have a portable XM radio that I have in the AUX and to maintain a volume of 33, I have to kick it up to about 88 in the DICE.
I have a DICE Silverline Duo and I've had a similar issue resolved after talking with DICE support. The gain (amplification) can be adjusted when in CD or MD mode by selecting disc 3 within 5 seconds of accessing the Dice unit. 1. Radio on FM/AM (anything but Dice), or head unit off. 2. Switch to Dice, by pressing CD. 3. Immediately select Disc 3 4. Use the next and previous track buttons on wheel to adjust level 5. Select Disc 1 to save setting and return to playing music from iPod. Now I find that a level of about 6-7 makes the volume roughly level with the radio, however I find that this level makes some distortion from the iPod music, especially bass. Not pleasant. So I leave mine set at about 4-5 which is a good trade off between volume level and sound quality. FYI other settings can be changed using the other discs: Disc 2 - charging time for iPod after ignition off Disc 3 - volume level Disc 4 - scrolling text option Disc 5 - "Radio line display type" whatever that means Disc 6 - View DICE software version. (and press disc 1 to save and return to music playback)
