Is the Apple Ipod the only personal music/ video player supported by the Dice, Vais, etc. or will a Zune or other types work?
If by "supported" you mean integrated in to the display, then yes. However, you can plug a Zune, etc. into the Aux. input that you add with a DICE.
You might want to Google Zune Integration and see where that goes. If you have a 2006+ you already have an AUX input and won't need a DICE for that.
My Palm Centro is a phone and my MP3 player. I bought a $10 stereo cord from Target and used the OEM adapter for the phone socket (which I have to do with ALL headphones) and it works perfectly. I haven't played too much, but I'm pretty sure the screen commands don't work you have to use the MP3 controls.
Because power delivery INTO a music player/iPod is not standard. Apple invented their own "standard" when they decided to do headphone out, power and USB thru the headphone jack of their current gen iPod Shuffle. However, there are TONS of cigarette lighter to iPod dock connector chargers and charger/FM transmitter combos. I have two of the latter.
yes, but isn't that part of the "appeal" of the prius, that is automatically came with a jack for the player? seems stupid to have to then buy yet another adaptor for it. :suspicious: oh well.
Hey all! Just wanted to clarify or add a few things. Our unit is not an cigarette lighter/ fm transmitter unit, it is a direct plug and play system that fully integrates any of the Apple iPod line up including all new iPods (nano, classic, touch, iPhone) on your Prius you will get full text for playlist, artist, track, etc. info and be able to use your touch screen or steering wheel to do so. It will also keep that iPod charged and shut it on and off with the vehicle. Also to let everyone know we have 3 different iPod units the SLI, SL2I, and SL2VI. The SLI is full iPod control with an extra AUX port (RCA input) for those of you who have a Zune or want to plug in any other audio source. The SL2I is our 2nd gen unit that is only iPod integration no aux, but it does have better sound quality than the original (our sound quality is phenomenal and far surpasses any competitor on the market). The SL2VI has all the advantages of our SL2I but with the added functionality of being able to play video from your iPod on your MFD. So please check us out and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Support Team VAIS Technology
So, why would I want to pay $200+ just to hook up my $120 iPod ???? Can't you guys come up with a less expensive solution for us normal people who are not audio-nuts, and just want to play from our iPod, with a little convenience like power charging, without all the screen and steering wheel gizmos? Just curious, Mike
There is one that connects to the bottom of the iPod that's has an plug for an AUX connector and an adapter for the power socket. I forget the make, but you can Google for it. As mentioned above, there are kits with a charger and FM transmitter.
Are you sure? Check inside the center console at the bottom should be a head phone style mini jack... Thats your aux input.
I have and RCA mp3 that works. Took me a while to figure out that I needed to change the mode to AUX. Since I use the MFD to watch the wheels turn (or nav), I typically don't watch what's going to play.
Sorry, my dealer told me Toyota was only making option 2, 4, 5, and 6 which all include the aux in. I didn't mean to offend.
I noticed that you have a Base model... The AUX input is available on package #2 and up. Sorry for the bad news.
I just bought a used 2006. I don't have this either! Is there a wiring harness or something I can get?
