I'm a lot happier with my '05 since I learned how to disable the Reverse beep. I read somewhere that it is possible to do the same thing on the seat belts. Does anyone out there know the proceedure for this? BTW I ALWAYS use my belt but it may take a few seconds to hook it up and I don't like the noise.
The seatbelt beep isn't the one that comes on at startup. It's the one that reminds you (along with the blinking light) that you haven't worn your seatbelt and the car is in motion. This one is possible on the 2004, not sure on the 2005. I've been unsuccessful. It's the same procedure as the reverse beep except replace the part where you shift into reverse then park with buckling/unbuckling the seatbelt (e.g. the driver's). I've heard that the pass seat must be empty
Yeah, Tieland, you hit it. I have a late-year '04 and can't seem to be able to disable my seatbelt beep. Some owners of '05 Prii who have tried disabling the seatbelt beep have reported failed attempts.
There is a Knowledge Base on the subject; http://priuschat.com/forums/kb.php?mode=ar...d009621c7c35417 I could not find an earlier thread that suggested that the only way was to disable the hardware by cutting or removing a wire to the speaker or sensor in the seat. Check it out. There may be differences by your location.
How about a length of insulated wire with an alligator clip on one end and the seat belt insert hardware on the other....unless there is a current draw when you buckle-up or some unacceptable computer interaction if you kept this connected?
It is possible. Check this thread: http://greenhybrid.com/discuss/index.php?showtopic=555 I have an 05 and able to get it to work on my 1st try.
Many thanks for the replies to my request for information. With your help, I was able to locate a way to kill that little chirping seat belt bird and it wasn't hard to do--that is, after I went through it several times before what I was doing wrong sunk in. Love the car!!
