Has anyone else experienced a whining buzz through the sound when you are running an iPod through the AUX jack and have it plugged in to power as well? If I disconnect the power from my iPod it stops. I've made sure that the cables were as far away from each other as possible, but they put the AUX jack RIGHT NEXT to the power port in the center console. I haven't tried plugging it in under the dash yet, but I'd rather not have all the wires, which seems to be the point of the console plugs. I'm driving an '08 with the JBL system, if it matters . . .
Somewhere in the manual it says you will hear that sound if it is plugged in. So it is a normal behavior. I don't really know WHY it does it, just know that according to the manual it is normal. Obviously, just unplugging it and running it only off the iPod's battery eliminates the sound. it is pretty annoying though!
Yes, it is. Strikes me as a design flaw, probably relating to poor shielding somewhere in the system. Oh, well. I guess you can't have EVERYTHING . . .
I experienced the same thing with my ipod when it's charging while playing on aux. I fooled around with the with the usb charger and the buzzing sound stopped when the charger was loosened out a little. I don't know how it worked but it did and hopefully it'll work for you as well.
Darn, I just plugged in my phone and the buzzing sound is back. Will probably have to resort to the DICE device :mmph:
Might try a ground loop isolator.... PAC SNI-1/3.5 Noise Filter Helps eliminate ground loop noise from your portable music player! (3.5mm plugs) at Crutchfield.com Seidio Ground Loop Isolator @ mytreo.net/store
A ground loop isolator will absolutely help. I ran into this too when I got my 06 Prius. The solution ought to be in a FAQ somewhere.
