2008 Prius; <1 wk old Just learning how to use all the electronic features. I have had a portable GPS for a few years and notice one difference between it and the Prius Nav, system is this . . . on the portable GPS the icon representing the vehicle was always pointing up, regardless of actual direction. That is, whether going NSEW, the direction of the icon was 'up.' Not so in the Prius - if I am heading west, the icon points and travels toward my left. I have found a reference to 'Map Direction' in the manual but nothing on what it is/does. Can I set the Prius Navigation system to always show map direction pointing up?
Press the compass icon on the map screen to make your car icon always point up instead of the direction it's traveling.
You can also use voice commands: "heading up", or the opposite which I forget (oh yea, "North up"). I just press the compass button on the MFD, and save the voice commands for impressing my friends. Tom
I'll bet you have an option to change it so it shows actual direction. I don't know of any that don't do this.
