I ordered my Silver Pine Mica Package #2 almost two weeks ago and I can already tell it's going to be a long six weeks or so. :twitch:

I've been lurking here for the past month and I've been thinking of buying a Prius for the past couple of years. I rented a Prius in Seattle last summer to see what they were like. When I got home, I decided that I'd get one as soon as my current car was ready for retirement. Well, the old car is 10 years old this month. I've put over 230,000 miles on it and the oil light turns on whenever it's idling.

Has it been six weeks yet? :(

Great car and color choice! You'll love it.

My MPG has been improving with each tank (warmer weather is helping). I'm getting 55 mpg on my third tank (in the mid 40's with my first two).

Hang in there. 6 weeks is not too far away. Hopefully we don't reach $4.00 dollars to a gallon before that :D. Sounds like rod bearings gone bad on your old car. For 230K, your old car did its service.

:welcome: and :amen: to your selection, I drive an '08 silver pine mica, package 2, and it's great, a perfect compromise between reasonable cost and sufficient doo-dads. I did buy an aftermarket Garmin GPS which is better, by most folk's account, than the built-in nav system, plus has the added convenience of being portable between vehicles or carry on one's person......coupled with the added risk of theft, so be sure to secure it when the car is parked out in the open.

Why six weeks? I'm surprised that a dealer in a fairly populous part of the country couldn't do some sort of dealer swap and get one in for you in a matter of days.

I already have 2 Garmin GPS units that I orginally purchased for my motorcyle. The motorcyle gets the new one and the car gets the old one. A StreetPilot 2610.

It just happened that the dealership already had the exact color/package that I was looking for scheduled to arrive in six weeks. I didn't mention it in my previous post but I was also waiting to get my motorcycle paid for before buying the Prius (final payment in June), so the six weeks is ok with me. I'll only have a couple of months with two vehicle payments.

My motorcycle gets 40 mpg, my old car gets 25 mpg. I tend to ride the motorcycle more as the cost of gas goes up. Now, the motorcycle will be just for fun, not fuel economy. :D

That makes sense. I hear ya on the motorcycle thing, I rode mine during the warmer months as an effort to economize, but with the Prius I now get better mileage than with the bike.

Welcome, Mark. I know the feeling. We share a similar story, in that I rented one on a trip to California and loved the technology. I lurked on the site for about a year, too. I ordered mine in November of 2007 and picked up my best Christmas present ever on December 26th. I have 3200 miles of trouble-free and fun driving under my belt. I'm 61 years old and have NEVER been so jazzed up about a car.

    Enjoy and keep coming back!

YES! Just picked up my Prius! Dealer said it would be around 6 to 8 weeks, it actually was only 3 1/2 weeks. :)

Congrats on the new vehicle and the quick arrival time. The car looks great!
We looked at the 08's but after getting offered very little on our Honda CRV with 67K on the odometer and we decided to list it for sale online. The ironic part is that we found a nice 04 Prius for sale which was a one owner and utilized synthetic oil since owned with a clean Car Fax and multitudes of pictures to view prior to purchase. The car has navigation, blue tooth, and CD and Ipod jack. The Prius is doing well and the CRV was sold for three thousand above the low ball price at our Toyota dealer. If they wuuld of actually offered a real price I was ready to pick up a Charcol model b. I think it’s a win win for us all around presently. The car is averaging 46 MPG for the wife who drives back roads to work daily which is around 40-50 MPH. The Prius is at 70K on the odometer and seems to be okay. I am hoping to break the 150 K mark in the future as we drive it.
I read on the blogs that many have exceeded 200 on their Prius batteries. Does anyone know the magic number for miles or age before the Prius has battery issues?

just placed my order for a new 08 Silver Pine Prius Pkg 2. I have enjoyed the test drives and now waiting to hear from Atlanta Toyota on pickup date. Should be a week or 2 from my understanding. I work in TV news and have watched the stories we have been doing on rising gas prices. I decided to park my F-150 for commuting and get one of these. I just discovered this forum and plan on reading with interest what you all have to say. I see a Prius on line shop which is good. I did not order any mats or bumper pads or other high priced dealer accessories thinking I could find thinks cheaper on line and this site should be a money saver.
