Last week, I ordered a second 2008 Touring Prius. :bounce: I purchased our first one late last year. It is due to be delivered to the Dealership the first week of April. My question is, does anyone know of any problems with having two different Prius car SKS key FOB's on the same key ring? Problems such as signal interference, accelerated battery deterioration, etc. My research can't find any problems with them being constantly in close proximity, but, thought maybe some of the two Prius car families who visit PriusChat could advise if they had encountered any problems or if this is a non-issue. Thanks
I wouldn't think there would be any interference between the two fobs. No more than a fob and a cell phone, anyway. But that's just a guess.
The biggest problem is that two fobs are bulky. I investigated trying to to get one fob to work two cars (or more accurately, two fobs to both work two cars so my wife and I could drive each other's car) but eventually gave up on the idea as being too difficult and expensive for the dealer to learn how on my dime. I usually carry two fobs in different pockets so I'm not too lumpy.
You need one of these: ThinkGeek :: Gadget Shoulder Holster It's an under-the-shoulder holster for keys, ipods, cell phones, etc. Tom
Thanks for the feedback. I see where the Owner's manual says that placing two FOB's together may cause signal interference, but, I was curious if any of the two Prius families had actually incountered problems or not. Placing one in each pocket to reduce bulk is a good idea Bill. I too like carring both keys as my wife and I occasionally drive each others car.
