Yeah, there are many good things that the Prius proves. I love the push button start, and I love that with the Prius we're one step closer to getting rid of those darn keyed ignitions for good, hehe. Parking buttons...I think that's another simple and yet genius idea. Something as important as parking shouldn't be associated with a handful of other major functions (The different gears). To me, the Prius is truely a concept car you can drive, because look at how many concepts there are in it. So much stuff that has never been done before in any realistic form, and we can drive it!
What are the websites addresses for the rest of the CHicago Tribune articles on the US diesel/electric hygreds? DaveinOlyWA only posted the cover page, and part one. Niether of those sites will allow me to go to parts 2 and 3. Thanks, Pappypete
actually on the first page when you click next, it says that the page is unavailable or whatever, just cancel the dialog box, and click on the next page link again and it works ok the 2nd time around... dont know why its that way...has to be something to do with the way they archive the pages. if you have probs with it, PM me, i can send the entire main article in plain txt or something. i have it in word perfect or something. i can convert to a txt file and send it to you.
oh ok, i forgot, u do have to register too. and to access the log in page and the next page in the article, click on "Tinkering with Engines" i also have an interesting pic in my photo album that came from the article keep in mind that the pic comes from 2000...so its not a question of the big 3 ability to make a good hybrid, its all about their wanting to http://priuschat.com/forums/album_pic.php?pic_id=799
I find one thing funny about the cars that the big 3 developed. They are all deisel. I guess back in the 90's you would have to use diesel.. but i though they would use gas. Diesel is supposed to be a lot more efficient from what i hear. I would have thought for their number to be higher. Damn, those cars are ugly. Chryster is the only car to follow a form that would be considered somewhat normal. I guess that Ford has the whole low end focus look.
well you realize the goal was 80 mpg not 55 so diesel was used to maximize fuel. you need to consider the ramifications if the big 3 hadnt made the deal with gore to develope the cars. we would have a CAFE that required the average fuel economy to have reached 42 mpg by now. well considering we are under 21 mpg now... well you see where im going... as i said previously... before you read the article, make sure the kids are in bed and the pets are out of the way... because you will definitely need something to kick afterwards.
Zerox invented ethernet, not internet. Internet's forerunner was Arpanet, developed by the military. As for buggyness, most of the bugs don't seem to be the hybrid technology itself, but seems to be the the Engine ECM's frugalness for emmissions.
