Just got my new '08 Prius Seaside Pearl, Package #5 yesterday. New to the forums. Traded in our '05 Honda Civic Hybrid. We owned the Honda for 3 years and avg 49/mpg for the 3 years here in Florida. Hope to get the same or better mpg with the Prius. There seems to be a lot we have to learn with the vehicle, especially with package #5. Hope to be learning a lot here at these forums by reading and asking questions. Thank you for a great forum. Dan
Dan- Enjoy your new wheels! I think living in flatland you should do very well with your mileage! Barb
Hi Dan, Congrats on your purchase and welcome to PC. Great choice of color. It would be interesting to know why you traded the Honda hybrid for the Prius and as you experience your new car how do they compare. Gabe
Welcome to PriusChat, Dan! You should easily get better mpg than your Honda, which certainly wasn't bad. I, too, am interested in your comparison of your Prius to the Honda as you learn more about your new car. Congratulations!
Congratulations! I also just bought a new 2008 Prius today in Seaside Pearl Package 5. This is our first hybrid and will take some getting used to. We traded in a 2001 Honda Accord. I drive a 2007 Lexus ES350 so I'm already very familiar with the bluetooth and navigation systems and how they work and don't work. The one thing I need to figure out though is how to turn off the annoying reverse beep.
here is a good thread on how to turn off reverse beep... http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-main-forum/40951-i-want-turn-off-reverse-beep.html
Thanks for the welcome everyone. The reason we traded our '05 HCH is because the warranty was about to expire(next week). We loved the car, never had a problem with it, not once. Three years ago we wanted a Prius but could not get one. They were not avaiable on dealer lots, there were long waiting lists and people were paying more then sticker price. So we went with the HCH because they were available on dealer lots with no waiting lists. Like I said we loved the HCH but the only thing that was a little annoying with the HCH was when the car went into auto stop for example at a traffic light and the 2 cars ahead of you made right turns, to move up just a few feet to the light the car would go out of auto stop hench wasting gas. But decided this time to try the Pruis because they are more available. So far, we love the Pruis, more interior room and better acceleration. We feel like we have so much to learn with this vehicle but are looking forward to it. Thank, Dan
