I traded in a Ford Expedition EL for my new Barcelona Red '08 Prius with package #6 and Sirius radio, dealer installed. I have driven it for 5500 miles since Valentines day when I bought it. I estimate I have used 125 gallons of gas versus 385 I would have used with the Expedition. Did I mention I am in Wisconsin and we have had a record winter with lots of significant sub zero weather (-32 on the Prius thermometer one morning!) Best tank so far was 50.1 mpg over a 500 mile drive in one day.

Nice to see my gas savings is more than my car payment!!

    Life is good...;)

Welcome to the good life. I moved from a 13mpg Jeep on the mail route to a 2007 Prius. 36000 miles later...42.96 mpg. And those darn old fashioned cars that you have to actually take the key out of your pocket to start......too much work for me these days. I beat knowledge out of this website for 2 months before I bought mine. No regrets, no problems.:D

Another happy beginning. From an Expedition to a Prius is a big move. Glad to hear that you are saving lots of $'s. You made the right decision to switch.

I love never taking keys out to open the door. Very high tech. Now if I could get a little more distance from my headlights I would be very happy.

I made the move after a particularly long travel week. I was filling up the 4th day in a row for over $80 each day. That did it for me...:)

WOW! 5500 miles since Valentine's Day? Where have you been driving? Cross country and back? Just curious!

I am a product rep and I cover the entire state of Wisconsin. So an average week of driving for me is between 700 and 1100 miles. It was time to make the switch and I am glad I did.

90% of mine is highway as well.

I have found something interesting. I live in NW wisconsin and make regular trips to Milwaukee.

I average 47-48 mpg going to Milwaukee and 44 mpg coming home. Wisconsin geography has the trip more uphill on the return trip and you can see it in the mileage.

The 44 mpg is still 3 times what I was getting in the Expedition..:)

Nice move! There'll be a sea of those boats on car lots all over the country this fall after a summer of +$4 gas. You do alot of truckin' too. Take good care of your new child with some Mobil 1 syn oil every 5K as I would say thats heavy duty use and she'll last forever.

    That is the plan edthefox5.

I took a bath on the trade in for the Expedition. But I will recoup in less than 3 years and save $700/mo while I am at it. The dealer said they were getting nearly 1 newer SUV trade per day. They swapped mine out with the local Ford dealer. At least there was some market for it.

Maybe they can paint it yellow and use it as a school bus...;)

I am also a big Mobil 1 fan. That is what I am using and expect to for the life of the car.

Are your headlights aimed too low? I found mine aimed low from the lot and after I got one light replaced. It's an easy do-it-yourself job to adjust it, just do a search. Now I can see a mile! (and it has saved me from hitting many deer)

I routinely have over 30-40 deer on the side of the road (or in the middle!) for the last few miles home. Looks like an adjustment is in order!

Prius' are taking over...at least around Madison. Before I made the switch I was beginning to think they were the official car of Madison. Now I can see several around here in NW Wisconsin, home of the red neck and jacked up 4 wheel pick-up. I'll know the transition is complete when I see a deer strapped to the top of a Prius this fall during der season.

    That's a picture for sure!
