I'm pleased my town uses our cars. Knowing my town if there's one there's 50. They'll probably save a good chunk of change over 5 years using our cars.
Ed, Actually it is better than that. My wife works for the City of Clearwater and one of the initiatives that was just put through (pickup and dropoff services for seniors) was staffed recently with Prii! The service is for seniors to get to where they need to go and with the division using Prius cars for this, more savings are met which means that it is even more affordable.
Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if Toyota sells more Prius to municipalities and government than to commercial fleet buyers like the car rental companies.
We have had them in this area since 2001. The city and county both have fleets of Prius and are very satisfied with them. http://www.calcars.org/calcars-news/218.html http://www.hybridcars.com/king-county/how-king-county-hybrid.html
From what I can tell, the city of Seattle has at --least-- 50 Pri in their fleet in the building I park in. They could have more in other areas of the city.
cool. wonder what a Prius police car would look like? or fire chief car? Florida passed the double homeowners exemption and local govt is looking for a way to cope. Maybe this is that way?!
I work for the Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure and they have a reasonable fleet of Prius. I work out of a small office and there are 2 Prius based there. I don't know how many Prius they have. Unfortunately all this good work is offset against the number of 6 cylinder cars they have where a 4 cylinder car would do the job. A lot of the people responsible for vehicle purchasing seem to have the typical Aussie attitude that a 4 cylinder car can't be used for long journeys. I was going to push for Prius for my job but unfortunately the load space is 50mm (2") too short for the portable scales we carry. I'm looking forward to measuring the Camry Hybrid boot.
I've started to see them running around here as well, being used by the Utilities companies. Northern Illinois area...
Hi Fellow Clearwaterian!, First City Prius I saw. Very cool.I waved at the guy but he just looked at me. I work in Tampa so I drive the Courtney everyday. Been av 48 mpg's.We have 3 Prius at work. A gray and the light green Mica I think but I think the Salsa Red looks the best. I wanted that color but they couldn't get it for a while but they had my next choice Driftwood Pearl sitting at the Port of Tampa waiting to go home with me. I couldn't stand waiting any longer but the Driftwood looks real good and never looks too dirty. Nice to hear from you and maybe we will see each other around town.I'll be the guy waving! Ray
Ahh, small world! I drive the Courtney Campbell daily to work as well (to Rocky Point). Salsa Red is a great color (that is the wife's car) and I like the Spectra Blue.
