Hi all! I've searched and read the posts regarding modifying the seat rails to get more rearward travel, and I need to get this done on a 2008 Pkg #5 in Los Angeles. Can anyone refer a shop that has done this mod for them, or a custom metal fab shop that could prototype it? I'm in the Burbank / Glendale area, but could travel anywhere in SoCal / Orange County to get this done. Recommendations please? Thank you!
If you find someone to do the work, please let me know how it goes. I wouldn't mind a trip down there (from San Luis Obispo) to have the rail extension for the drivers seat as well. Why couldn't it be as simple as a bolt-on kit?
About now many inches are you looking for, I think it is doable but you may have have to sign a waiver do to safety reasons but I know it can be done
Just a couple. I'm 6'2" and though I fit fine in the Prius, it would be nice to stretch out just a bit more on longer drives.
is it possible to make two adapter plates that would allow you to move seat backward? if done right adapter plate can work out real well and real inexpensively. basically, one set of adapter holes would mount to seat, other set of holes would go to the floor.

Hi Everyone: I modified the seats in my wife's 04 Corolla to give me more legroom, I am 6'4". Basically, I used 1/4" by 2" mild steel, and fabricated adapters using the existing floor hole pattern. On the passenger side, I moved the seat all the way aft (rear) and marked this location the adapter so I could locate the new hole pattern. The seat bolts to this new location. For the driver side, I had my wife adjust the seat to her satisfaction. I located the seat on the new adapter to account for her seat adjustment. the whole project took me a couple of days, and worked out well. While sitting on the passenger seat, I can stretch completely, which is nice for long trips. On the driver side, my only complaint is the steering column does not have a telescopic feature, but can at least stretch my legs. All of modifications can be removed with no permanent alterations to the car. ZERO rear passenger legroom however, but I am not anticipating having rear passengers. If I do, too bad for them. As for the Prius, this approach cannout be used because of the floor pan configuration. The only approach I see feasible is extending the existing rails three to 6 inches. This can be accomplished two ways, First, extend the rails by splicing and welding a piece from another rail adding a doubler for reinforcement. The second alternative would be to have the rails copied but made longer. The second approach would be more expensive but ultimately less work, for me I mean, not who is doing the copying. I am in the process of trying to locate seat rails at a reasonble price, if anyone knows of any, please let me know. Once I get the rails, I can get a quote for their manufactor. Bob
