Does any Angelinos know of a "Prius-friendly / Knowledgeable" car wash? I'm assuming most car washes don't know how to deal with the Hybrid Synergy Drive.
hybrid car wash the Studio City Hand Car wash on Ventura Blvd not only knows hybrids, they will wash yours for FREE! They've made a deal with actor Ed Begley to do this through the end of 2004
Re: hybrid car wash I suppose that's an innovative pro bono PR concept. Shows he's just a regular guy who can mix with the public and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. Maybe he can sign autographs as a way to rest up between cars. Whatever it takes to keep his name fresh in the public mind.
In Long Beach, corner of 7th Street and Bellflower. I think it's called Coast 100% Hand Car Wash. Something like that. Big green and white sign. These guys rock. They do it right in front of you, you can get lots of detailing done for more if you like, liquid or paste wax, just a hand wash... Prices for the BETTER ones start around $20. The paste wax takes better part of an hour though. Did it once on my way to work and got bitched at for being late, so keep that in mind, but these guys do a great job and with as much as I go there the guy just takes the key and goes about it like any other car. He'll feel like a pro in yours. All the people getting theirs done at once, people may even ask you about yours and you can be a good advertisement.
I haven't braved the car wash yet. I've been taking mine to the coin op place. Someone tell me a decent one in the Hollywood/Glendale area!
Cool. One thing to note, they do offer a dent removal service... A girl that I work with had issues involving the charges or something of that nature and really felt mislead. Although this offered service in NO WAY effects how well your car will be cleaned, I feel that if I'm going to give a nod toward a particular business I give all the info I know. It sounded simply like a matter of, if it sounds to good to be true... ...have them itemize! Let me know what you think once you get it washed. Let me know how detailed you went also. Like I said, they offer lots of degrees of detailing, and obviously the more they do the more it costs. Gotta take into effect also, that your car is still just a baby.
I just had my new Prius washed at the hand wash car wash on the corner of Vermont and Hollywood Blvd. It went very well.... they new how to drive the car, put it in neutral... the whole deal. and the wash was decent as well. there's also a good hand wash place in burbank on san fernando road just south of alvarado? i think? they always do a great job... but i don't know if they have dealt with a prius yet.
In the SF Valley, the car wash at the corner of Reseda and Saticoy (forget the name of the place...) is OK. The manager always drives it in, and he knows what he's doing. Since getting it in N properly at the beginning of the wash is the critical part of the operation, I trust 'em enough to do that. I usually have to meet the other guy at the end to show him how to drive it out, though. Are they perfect? No, but are they good enough, combined with the fact that it's close to where I live? Yep. And they're cheap.
Very cool - not far from my office. I haven't washed my car in about 4 months. The interior really needs a good vacuum and of course the windows are filthy. Do they spray stuff all over the inside? I'm a little concerned because the body shop that fixed my dent back in January clouded up my heads up display (and it'll cost $1,000 to fix at the dealer!).
i asked the guy not to spray anything on the NAV screen, and he didn't... but he also didn't spray anything on the display under the windshield, so when i got home i cleaned it myself. but yes, he did clean the dashboard with some kind of spray, but no damage. um.... sorry, i'm new here.... what's a "head's up" display?
Heads up display is just the display in the forward part of the dash. I think they call it that because it's not in the old position just behind the steering wheel and you don't have to move your head to view it - just your eyeballs.
I took my Prius to the car wash at the corner of Lincoln Blvd. and Venice Blvd. in Venice. They assured me they knew how to handle the Prius, and indeed, it came through just fine. I'm not suprised. Lately I've seen 3 other Priuses in a 3 block radius of my house! Venice must be a very Prius-friendly neighborhood.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(ggalanti\";p=\"59653)</div> I live down the street in Playa Del Rey. I usually take my car to the wash in Santa Monica on Lincoln just south of Ocean Park. They do a decent job. Maybe I'll try the one in Venice next time since it's closer.
The Handy J on Washington in Culver City. Plus they have the best BBQ while U wait. All washes are pure hand wash, no brushes, $14 VIP - $35 wash and hand wax.

We also need one in the Pasadena/Glendale/Burbank area. We used to go all the way to the Studio City one because it was free but he's stopped that now. Still, was nice while it lasted. Ed B. Jr. has a track record of being sincere about the environment. We need more like him.
