I have been a frequent visitor to this site for at least 6 months and have purchased items from the store. I figured that it was time that I officially signed up on this forum and said hello to everyone. It looks like there is a great group of people on here and the amount of infomration that I have gained helped me buy my 2007 touring. Thank you for great site.
Welcome Silver Shadow - this IS a great place to chat, and get really good advice - I'll bet you can give some to - looking forward to hearing from you!
Hey there Silver Shadow, this is my first post as well. I have yet to purchase the Prius, but this does seem to be a place where I can get 'real' info on fuel economy and the likes. It seems like the technology for hybrids changes by the day. I'm having a tough time committing to a vehicle when something better is just around the corner. The 2008 Prius is supposed to be better than current and sometime after that will come the PHEV, and sometime after that a vehicle powered by hearing aid batteries. All in all, it's a pretty exciting time for cars.
Thank you everyone. The more I browse around this site the more I learn about my car. There are so many topics of conversation, you can read and read for days.
Welcome, gentlemen! This has to be the most awesome chat site on the planet and you can only make it better.
I've sometimes thought about that concept of "something better around the bend" if I am just patient and wait......and yet automotive technology has been changing and advancing for over 100 years. If everyone waited until the next improvement, we'd all still be driving Model T's. Ya gotta jump in sometime. I have a hunch that when they come out with a plug-in Prius, or one with lithium-ion batteries, or one that is radically redesigned, they are going to be tough to get, command a price premium, and may even have a few bugs to be worked out, so I wouldn't probably wouldn't want one until the initial dust settled down a bit anyway......as in a couple of years. I tend to trade my cars every 5-8 years, so that ought to be just about right.
Welcome to PriusChat, Silver Shadow and bnther37! Always good to have more friends! Peter, um, what color is your Prius?
You're probably right. It's just that cars aren't exactly cheap. I take that back, actually some cars are VERY cheap, it's just that cars all cost a lot of money. Has there been any word as to when Toyota would offer the Prius in a PHEV and how long do they estimate the batteries would last before being replaced?
