all! I've had my black Prius for almost two months now. I'm still finding wonderful surprises with the Prius. One recently was the pull-out compartment in the center console. I, of course, know about the compartments for the cups and the center area for CDs and other things...but I recently discovered the compartment in the base of the console towards the dash. It's perfect for a standard-size tissue box! It's great for a trash bin, too. I also love the extra compartment underneath the trunk's floorboard. I removed the spare tire and am using it for just-in-case jackets and sweaters. I believe other car companies such as the Chrysler Crossfire don't even offer spare tires...just a tire-fixer can. I've never had to change a tire (knock on wood) and when I had tire problems, I called for tow. Perhaps on long trips, I'll place the spare tire back in the car. : ) Kosame I'm expecting to find other "secret" compartments in the future.
Since I'm just discovering new compartments....I know, I know...I'm obviously not reading the manual!
Check out this site: http://gallery.joesdiner.com/gallery/Prius Joe did an excellent job of taking pictures of just about every thing from just about every angle. Even the pull-out drawer is there. I installed WebShots to use their slideshow screensaver. I saved every one of Joe's pictures to a common folder and now my screen saver cycles through them all. Thanks Joe!
The space under the trunk's floorboard is great for hiding Christmas presents. My son often sneaks out to search the car for signs of presents but doens't know about this space.
I found that one of the best places to hide Christmas presents for the kids is in their own rooms. The last place they'd think to look - like under their beds. They were a bit insulted when I 'fessed up to them years later. Merry Christmas!
I'll have to check out Joe's weblink. Thanks! Yes, I do love the hidden trunk compartment. It's great to hide stuff. If you tuck in the little pull tab in the middle and tuck it under the carpeting, no one would ever know that another compartment was down there. I took the spare tire out (simply because if I get a flat, I'll just ask for tow...unless I'm traveling long distances, then I'll place it back in) to make the car lighter AND to add extra storage space. Eyeglass compartment....love it.
I pretty cool little modification would be to somehow install a reb button on a black panel in the eyeglass compartment. Sort of like James Bond. Only passengers would be able to enjoy this little thing, but I can imagine their surprise when I say something like, "oh yeah, and I got the optional Electro-Magnetic Pulse option. It uses the car's battery pack to generate a high-energy pulse that short circuits all the electronics withing 50 feet of my car." Then I punch the ceiling and down drops a non-discript red button. "Watch this!" Bwa-ha-ha-ha :evillaugh:
