Thanks to all of you gracious experts who helped me out this week! Today I bought the car that I really wanted...the red 2007 touring Prius with package #2 and 12,475 miles. It's beautiful and rides and drives like a dream! I couldn't take my eyes off the mpg...got 51 in the city which I couldn't believe! I'm used to SUV mileage and I'm so appreciative of the numbers I'm seeing now. I merged onto interstate 85 at 65mph with no problem...so very smooth. I am soooo happy with this car! I do have a question about the lights. Tonight I turned them on and stopped at a friend's house. I forgot about turning them off. When I remembered and went back out to turn them off, they were off and then came back on when I started the car. Should I turn them off every night or just leave them on? Would it shorten the life of the battery just to leave them turned on all the time? Thanks again to all of you who answered my questions so patiently. You've got one "happy camper" here!! Mary Ann
I leave mine off to extend the life of the HID's. Shouldn't affect your battery since it gets recharged. Congrats on the Prius.
Thanks for the advice! I'll keep them off...didn't think about the HID. (This female never did understand electricity and batteries in school!) Thanks for setting me straight on that, too!
Awesome! Congrats on your Prius Mt. Lover! If you forget to turn the lights off, they will automatically shut off when you open the driver's side door. They will then turn on again when you power on the car. No worries about the battery. If you don't want to drive with them on in the daytime, then shut off to save the bulbs. I usually leave the lights in the "on" position when driving at night and only shut them off in the daytime. Have fun learning about your new car! You made an excellent choice.
Congratulations!!! You're gonna love it. Re the lights, as others have stated they turn off when you open the driver's door. I'm not sure if the '07 #2 Touring has HIDs or not, but my '08 #2 standard Prius does not, so I leave them in the 'on' position all the time.
Thanks so much, guys! I can't wait to get back on the road today..I'm just making up errands to run...even in the rain! I fell in love with the car yesterday while I was driving it around. I was too excited to study the manual last night, but will read some of it tonight to see if I can figure out a few things. It's such an awesome car! Have a great weekend!
