New 2008. On the Drivers side front kick panel (left of parking brake), I can see a recessed but clearly visible threaded fastener. It looks like perhaps this is supposed to have a plastic cap covering the fastener.

Can anyone confirm if there is supposed to be a plastic cap over this or if it is normal for the recessed fastener to be exposed?

    Thank you

Mine is exposed and came that way. I noticed it when I first got the car.
    Guess it is normal.

    Normal.
Mine also has a screw stud sticking out from that kick panel as well.

This screw seems to be bolted outside-in to the chassis, and Totoya just uses the stud acting like a panel fastener. Efficient design, but they should have made it easier to the eyes too. (Cover the stud at least.)

Thank you all for your responses! I had discovered it about a week after picking up the car when installing the Weather Tech Extreme Duty Floor Liners. It just didn't seem like Toyota would intentionally leave it exposed so I thought I would present it to PriusChat instead of checking with the dealer on something like this.
