I'm a proud owner of a spanking new gray Prius2! Here in Germany, this color is called "marlin gray", but I think it's the same as magnetic gray. Regards, cala4era
Willkommen! "Marlin Gray" - I like it. I think more colors should be named after fish. Salmon gets so lonely.
Interesting name of Gray color. In other brand, our Mag/Marlin Gray may actually name 'Gunmetal' or something like that. Btw, your RIM style look so different. Did you put on Winter Tires with other set of rims?
Sorry, but the blue is just not for me. I think the car looks best in the Magnetic Gray. It suits the body style, IMO. The only other color I considered was the Barcelona Red, but it's just a little too showy for my taste. The gray is elegant, sophisticated, and modern. I'm very happy with my choice and would choose it again.
I just got mine home today. I had no idea grey was such a popular colour As a side note, the suspension seems to be tight for some reason, I felt all the slight imperfections on the road and jiggled over bumps on the drive home. Maybe this is temporary or something
Yes, here in Germany we are required to put on winter tires by law. I hate the plain look of the rims, but the original ones are just too expensive. Anyway, better than the garish looking black steel rims on my P1. I just had to buy some cheap plastic covers to make the car look acceptable again. Did I mention that we had only about 3 days with temparatures below 0° C this winter in our area? So much for talking about global warming -- I hope the winter tires will pay off in the upcoming new ice age.
After three plus weeks with the Gray Ghost, I finally decided to remove the wheel rings on my non touring wheels. Now I need to reshoot my avatar photo. Car is dirty now and have a trip this weekend, so will wash it and reshoot next week sometime after the trip. As always, thanks to all for the great info on this web site.
Mt Shasta, Shast Lake, and if you look hard enough, Shasta Dam. Four great things that are pleasant on the eyes! Rusty
wooo!!! magnet gray rules... i waited a month for my dealer to get one off the boat... supposedly there were no trades btw dealers available.. and i did NOT want the white i test drove!!!
Alright I’ll join. We got our Magnetic Gray in May 2007. My wifes sister had just brought home an 07 Driftwood Pearl, and my wife decided she wanted one too. My wife knew she didn’t want the same color as her sister, and I didn’t want black because I’m not ambitious enough to keep one looking good. I thought blue would look good so we went to look at one. The sales guy took us for a test drive in a Barcelona Red and drove us over to their auxiliary lot to see the Seaside Pearl they had in stock. We decided it wasn’t for us and made our way back to the dealership where they had a Silver Pine Mica that was being prepped for the lot. I wanted a dark interior and this one had a light one. As we were walking around to the front of the lot we started past the Magnetic Gray that came home with us the next day. It was just off the truck, still had the white plastic wrappers on it, with a dark interior and package 5. That was all it took, this was it. We made the deal and came back the next day to pick it up. We inspected it, took it for a test drive, signed the check and took it home (with only 7 miles on the clock, almost all of them from our test drive!). Here it is today… For the record, if Spectra Blue Mica had been available I would have bought it instead, a feeling I’ve had until I put the rims on the car. I’ve never looked lustfully at a Spectra Blue since!
Its two and a half days old, delivered with 1 mile on the OD. So far, we love it and its comfort and convenience!
Somewhere on the Newbie picture thread link is my 2008 Mag Gray Prius sitting in the parking lot of where I work... I took six pictures.... Happy with the car with 4,500 miles on it already in just 2 1/2 months. I just need the 3M clear film, tinting, etc, to make the car look nice... as well as the first wash this weekend. (Yes, I'm a bit lazy...)
I'm in! Just bought my first Prius Magnetic Gray! Love it so far... The color is great, and even though I've been a white car guy for YEARS...white just did not look good with this car.... It seems to be a little hotter than my last white truck, but could be a combo of the warm SoCalif weekend and the black dash... does anyone have any tips on keeping the dash clean, cool and new looking? Glad to be part of the club!
I'm thinking about adding a black vinyl bra to my magnetic gray car. Does anyone have a photograph of a similarly equipped car? And do you have the Toyota version or a knockoff? Thanks!
